Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 649

The Bentley rolled to a stop right in front of Amelia. Clive stepped out, gave her a brief glance, and then went around to open the back door. Timmy scrambled out, wide awake and full of energy, but Penny was still fast asleep.

Clive scooped Penny up with one arm, her backpack and a bag of her things dangling from his other hand.

Amelia moved to take Penny from him, but Clive just shifted away a bit, refusing to let go. “Let me carry her in,” he said quietly. “She gets clingy when she’s sleeping. If you move her, she’ll wake up.” He paused, eyes flicking to the brightly lit Sadinton villa behind her. “Is… everything okay inside?”

Amelia was tired of his polite little questions, always trying to test the waters. But with the kids right there, she didn’t feel like starting a fight. She took Timmy’s hand and walked inside, Clive following close behind with Penny and her things.

Under the moonlight, her shadow stretched across the ground, reaching all the way to his feet. Clive noticed, and with his long stride, he caught up so they walked side by side. On the ground, their shadows blended together with the kids’, looking almost like a real family.

“Ma’am, is that Timmy and Penny? I made—” Donna came bustling in from the garden, kettle in hand, but the second she saw Clive walk in behind Amelia, her cheerful face dropped.

“Timmy, Donna saved some snacks for you,” Amelia said, nudging him toward the kitchen with Donna.

Then she led Clive upstairs.

When they moved in, Amelia had set up a princess-themed room just for Penny. There was even a small connecting door to Timmy’s room, so they could play together or have their own space whenever they wanted.

Clive laid Penny gently on her bed, tucked her in, and kissed her forehead. He looked every bit the doting dad.

“I’ll take care of Penny,” Amelia said, her voice cool and final. “You can go now.”

Clive turned around to face her. Amelia crossed her arms, clearly on guard. He closed the door behind him and gave her a tired, almost defeated smile. “Amelia, are you still mad at me?”

His voice softened at the end, almost pleading, as if he was hoping for a thank you. Amelia’s face stayed icy. Not even a flicker of gratitude.

She looked at him, eyes sharp as glass, and suddenly she smiled—a cold, knowing smile. “Is that so? Are you saying she’ll never come back because you can guarantee it, or because you know… she simply can’t?”

Clive felt a chill run through him. He’d meant to win some points by being vague, leaving out the part about Kristen being shipped off with Ryan. But from the look in Amelia’s eyes, it was like she already knew everything.

Clive’s lips twitched into a dry, bitter smile. “I see Ryan couldn’t wait to take credit.”

Amelia’s smile curled, all sarcasm. “Clive, you really haven’t changed at all. Ryan’s nothing like you. He never says a word, but he’d do anything for me.”
