Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 664

Liana eased herself upright, rubbing her lower back as she went. The keys felt heavy in her hand and she forced a faint smile. She’d made it—she’d climbed higher than she ever dreamed. She was supposed to be happy, right? But inside, all she felt was a bitter emptiness.

The last time Clive held her, he’d murmured, “Amelia, come back, please…”

Liana already knew his ex-wife’s name. She’d made sure to find it out.

Her name was Amelia.

The first cold wind of winter cut right through Amelia as she stepped outside. A black sedan waited at the curb, Paxton standing by the open car door.

He nodded as she approached, took the medicine she’d mixed up, and pulled the back door open for her.

“Did you tell Mr. Packman where you were headed, Ms. Sadinton?” Paxton glanced over his shoulder, a half-smile on his lips. “You know, Mr. Packman changed the meeting spot. Aren’t you worried you might not make it back?”

Amelia looked him dead in the eye, her face unreadable. “If you guys really had the guts, you wouldn’t have waited until now. The one scared of dying isn’t Ryan—it’s George.”

Paxton’s smile slipped for a second, but then he shrugged it off. “You’re sharper than people say. Next time someone claims you’re just a lab rat, I’ll set them straight.”

“And you think your opinion matters?” Amelia shot back. She usually wasn’t one for confrontation, but with George and his right-hand man, she couldn’t muster even a hint of politeness.

If not for them, Ryan wouldn’t be this sick, worn down to nothing.

Amelia squeezed the medicine tighter in her hand. She knew George’s schemes were about way more than just using Ryan for his own health.

The car took her further away from everything she knew, winding down unfamiliar roads on the edge of Alson Creek. They rolled over perfectly smooth stone slabs and finally stopped in front of a massive estate.

Packman Estate.

She stepped out and followed Paxton in. The few house staff they passed had their heads bowed, drifting by in silence. They didn’t look up once, as if Amelia was invisible.

“Mr. Packman,” Amelia greeted him with a polite nod.

Burke sneered. “Oh? You’re Ryan’s woman, but you won’t even bother calling me uncle?”

Amelia lifted her head and met his stare. “After what you’ve done to Ryan, I can’t call you that. I’m just being polite by calling you Mr. Packman. Honestly, if I didn’t care about manners, I’d call you an old bastard to your face, and I’d mean it.”

“Amelia!” George finally dropped his fake smile and snapped, “Ryan really has spoiled you. That mouth of yours might be the reason you don’t get to leave this house today.”

Burke raised a hand to silence him.

He narrowed his eyes at Amelia, studying her. “Standing up for Ryan, are you? How amusing. Do you even know what Ryan is? Actually, maybe ‘person’ isn’t the right word. Do you know what that animal has been up to lately?”

Amelia tossed the medicine onto the table, not even bothering to look at them.
