Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 108

Chapter 108

Eowyn hadn’t expected Zoya to bring Wren along. She asked, “Why’d you bring him into the game?”

“He insisted on playing together,” Zoya said helplessly.

“But I’ve got a mission to finish today. Is it really okay to have him tagging along?” Eowyn asked, eyeing Wren. He looked like a total newbie.

“I guess… it should be fine. I’ll just have him stick close to me in the game. He won’t get in your way,” Zoya said, glancing at

Wren beside her.

“Alright then.” Eowyn sighed in relief. “But seriously. Why does Wren want to play this game with you? Isn’t that… weird?”

He was the powerful head of the Richmond family, chairman of the Rich Group. Did he really have that much free time?

“Is it really that strange for a boyfriend to game with his girlfriend?” Wren’s voice suddenly cut in.

Eowyn, who was chatting through voice chat while in-game, nearly dropped her phone at the sound of his voice.

“Wren’s with you?” Eowyn asked.

“Yeah,” Zoya answered simply.

“Since when is he your boyfriend?” Eowyn pressed.

“Just a few days ago,” Zoya answered.

Eowyn just about screeched in the voice chat. “Zoya, you kept something this huge from me? Back in school, I wouldn’t even go hunting for hot guys at the bar unless you came with!”

Wren gave her a meaningful look, and Zoya hurriedly cleared her throat. “I was gonna tell you when we met in person! Didn’t you say you’ve got a quest today? Go handle your mission first!”

That snapped Eowyn out of it, and she quickly got back to business.

The game was a tactical-competitive shooter that required teamwork to complete missions and collect resources, while fending off rival players trying to steal them.

Eowyn had already failed this mission several times because enemy teams wiped them out mid-way. That was why she’d begged Zoya for help.

Zoya had played before, and the three other players in their six-person squad were familiar faces, so they quickly got moving.

She told Wren, “Just follow me and don’t fall behind.”

“Got it,” Wren replied.

One of the teammates called out, “Hey, bro. First time playing?”

“Yeah,” Wren answered softly.

“What’s your name?” the guy asked.

“Wren Richmond,” Wren replied.

As soon as he said his name, the other three guys in the squad just froze.

“Whoa, dude, your name is the same as that big shot from Ranard City!” one of them blurted out.

“Feels like we’re gaming with the richest guy in Ranard City!” another chimed in.

“No way Mr. Richmond would ever have time to game with us. Don’t get your hopes up! But hey, dude, that’s a pretty solid name. Maybe you’ll hit it big someday too!” the third guy joked.

Eowyn was speechless. She really wanted to yell, “Guys, you’re literally playing with Mr. Richmond, the Ranard City big

shot.”

And yes, he actually did have that kind of free time.

The six-player team moved out. Wren trailed closely behind Zoya, watching as she maneuvered her character with sharp precision, taking down enemies one after another.

Her movements were smooth and confident, her marksmanship deadly accurate.

She was the ultimate team player, tossing out cover fire, healing teammates, and bailing anyone out whenever trouble came knocking.

In that moment, Zoya was an unstoppable force on the battlefield, and nothing could stand in her way.

Wren couldn’t help but take his eyes off the screen and just look at Zoya.

She was right beside him, fingers flying as she flawlessly controlled her character on her phone.

Watching her so full of energy in the game, Wren couldn’t help but think if she was always this awesome when she was a special forces captain in the military.

It really felt like she was made for a much bigger world, never meant to be confined here at all.

“Don’t zone out. Stay close,” Zoya said briskly.

He blinked and quickly returned to the game, moving his character to follow hers.

Just as the squad was closing in on their objective, suddenly several other teams rushed them from nearby.

Clearly, those teams had joined forces, all intent on taking down the strongest squad first.

“Are they even letting us finish this quest?” Eowyn cursed, pissed off.

The rest of the squad ducked behind cover, trying to avoid getting hit.

Zoya glanced at Wren and barked, “Stop following me! Go find somewhere safe and lay low, okay?”

With that, she dashed from cover, charging straight toward the enemy.

Wren looked at Zoya’s figure up ahead. Even in the game, he hated the idea of being separated from her.

If Wren’d had one regret in life, it was that when she enlisted, he hadn’t followed her into the army, hadn’t been there to have her back when her life was on the line. At least now, in this virtual battlefield, he could fight beside her.

He followed her into the chaos as gunfire erupted all around.

Zoya called out to Eowyn in the squad chat, “You guys go finish the mission! I’ll hold these guys back!”

Since she wasn’t tied to the mission objective, even if she died in-game, it wouldn’t affect the team.

“Got it!” Eowyn replied quickly. While Zoya drew enemy fire, Eowyn and the others flanked around and sprinted toward the

target.

Zoya activated her ultimate, facing down a swarm of enemy players and going full DPS mode, unleashing hell on them all by herself.

But the enemy side only ramped things up, unleashing a curtain of bullets and grenades that turned the whole battlefield into a deathtrap, closing in tight around Zoya.

She desperately stalled for time. Finally, Eowyn announced in squad chat, “Mission complete!”

Zoya breathed a sigh of relief. She was nearly out of ammo and bracing herself to go down fighting with the enemy. But then, right as her defeat seemed inevitable, the enemies in front of her started dropping. One by one.

Zoya was stunned, and in the squad chat, she heard Eowyn and the other three guys crying out in shock.

“Zozo, is Wren really a total newbie who’s never played this game before?” Eowyn blurted out.

“No way, he’s a beast!” one of the guys exclaimed.

This dude’s not even human!” another chimed in.

Zoya shot a glance at Wren, watching as he calmly squeezed off round after round with the newbie-friendly gun she’d given him earlier.

His aim was spot-on every single time, nailing the enemies right in their vulnerable spots.

She had seen him shoot at a real range before and knew his marksmanship was exceptional. But seeing him tear it up like this in his very first run of this kind of game, Zoya couldn’t help but be blown away.

When the last enemy fell, silence returned to the virtual battlefield. Wren’s character walked up to hers slowly. Then his voice, low and steady, filled her headset. “Even in a game, I don’t want to see you get hurt.”

For a split second, Zoya felt her heart skip a beat.

When they logged off, her cheeks were faintly flushed. “Alright, it’s late. You should rest. I’m heading to my room.”

“Wait!” Wren grabbed her hand.

“What is it?” she asked, confused.
