Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 113

Chapter 113

But Logan’s smile only grew wider, as if he was actually hoping Wren would strangle him right then and there.

The scene made everyone around them tremble in fear.

People had long said that the Richmond family’s direct bloodline was filled with lunatics. And clearly, this father and son were the maddest of them all.

Mr. Richmond!one of the bodyguards couldn’t hold back and called out.

If Wren truly strangled Logan here and now, the entire Ranard City would erupt by morning.

The bodyguard’s shout jolted Wren back to reality.

His hand loosened abruptly. Logan staggered backward two steps, coughing violently.

Whywhy didn’t you just finish me off? Don’t tell me you’re scared to get called a fatherkiller!Logan choked out.

Wren lowered his gaze, staring at his own hands in silence. The same hands were stained with Zoya’s blood earlier.

He wasn’t afraid of being called a patricide. What truly terrified him was that, if he actually killed his own father right here, he’d never deserve Zozo.

She was just too pure, too righteous. If he really crossed that line, how could he ever stand by her side and dream of growing old together?

I won’t kill you,Wren said coldly, his eyes lifting to meet his father’s. But, like Grandfather did, I’ll make sure you can never hurt anyone again, especially her.

What?Logan’s expression darkened.

Shadow guards! At Wren’s command, dozens of guards suddenly materialized in the main hall of the old Richmond family mansion.

Logan paused, momentarily stunned, then broke out in a manic laugh. So that’s it! You’ve had this planned all along, haven’t you?

The Richmond family’s legendary shadow guards were an elite force, and only the family’s true head could call the shots.

After Logan lost his wife, he really lost his mind. He even tormented his own son, leaving Wren gasping for life.

That was when Henry finally put his foot down, hard, and had the shadow guards watch over Logan day and night, never letting him get anywhere near Wren again.

But once Henry passed, the order vanished. That was when Logan came back into Wren’s life.

Wren had always known Logan was using the Richmond family’s distant relatives to cause trouble for him. Back then, Wren couldn’t care less. But now, everything’s changed.

From now on, Logan Richmond isn’t leaving Richmond Isle without my permission!Wren ordered the shadow guards.

Yes!the shadow guards replied in perfect sync.

But Logan didn’t even bother to resist. He just chuckled. You think locking me up on Richmond Isle is gonna fix everything? That it’ll keep your hands clean? Wren, you’re my son. Your hands have always been dirty, and they’ll only get filthier. One day, that precious girl of yours will see itand she’ll despise you.

Wren’s lips pressed into a hard line. He gave no reply. Take him to Richmond Isle!

Once Logan was taken away, Wren lowered his head, staring gloomily at his own hands.

Do you think Zozo would ever just walk away from me like I’m nothing?he murmured to himself.

The nearest bodyguard froze, not daring to breathe. Then he said quickly, Mr. Richmond, you treat Ms. Lucero with such devotion. How could she ever leave you? Besides, she risked her life to protect you.

Wren’s eyes flickered for a moment. She really had risked her life for him.

But a thought gnawed at the edge of his mind. Would she have risked everything if it hadn’t been him she was protecting?

The next morning, Zoya woke to find Wren asleep at her bedside, his head resting on his folded arms against the mattress.

Unconsciously, her eyes landed on his strikingly handsome face.

Beneath those thick, inky brows, his long lashes rested like a fan, casting a soft shadow over his eyelids.

Even in sleep, his brow was faintly furrowed, as though weighed down by something he couldn’t let go.

Before she knew it, Zoya’s hand moved on its own, gently reaching out as if to smooth away that wrinkle between his brows.

But before her hand could reach his brow, his sharp, dark eyes suddenly snapped open. He caught her hand in an instant, then quickly let go as if startled. Sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

Zoya said, It’s fine. I probably woke you up. When did you get here?

This morning. Not long ago,he answered.

Did you not get any sleep last night?Zoya asked, noticing how exhausted he must’ve been to doze off beside her so quickly.

Yeah,” he replied quietly.

He didn’t tell her that he’d spent the whole night shuttling between Marabotara and Ranard City, handling all the mess with the Richmond family.

How are you feeling? Did you sleep well? Is your wound still hurting?Wren asked, his voice full of concern.

I’m doing okay. The wound doesn’t hurt much,” Zoya replied.

When she tried to get up and wash, he scooped her into his arms without warning.

What are you doing?she protested. I hurt my arm, not my legs.”

You’re hurt. Let me help you,Wren said. He set her gently before the sink, prepared her toothbrush, and even poured water into the cup for her.

If Zoya hadn’t insisted on brushing her own teeth, he probably would’ve done that too.

After Zoya finished brushing her teeth, Wren wrung out a towel for her, gently wiped her face, and then grabbed a comb to put her hair up.

Zoya looked genuinely surprised. You actually know how to do a girl’s hair?

Most guys couldn’t get a simple ponytail straight to save their lives, but even though Wren was a little awkward, it was obvious he wasn’t totally clueless about it.

He said quietly, When I was little. I used to help my mother. Sometimes, when she was in a good mood, she’d let me do her hair.

Moments like those were rare, and he treasured every single one. He always put in extra effort to get it just right, just to see her smile.

Sowere you and your mom close?Zoya asked softly.

Wren admitted, Not really. Most of the time, she didn’t even want to see me.

Zoya apologized, Sorry, I shouldn’t have brought that up.”

It’s okay. Even if you hadn’t asked, I would’ve told you about it sooner or later,Wren assured her.

Once he finished tying her hair, Wren slowly leaned in, resting his chin gently on her shoulder as he caught her gaze in the mirror. Zozo, do you thinkI’m too tainted for you?

Wren, where do you even get that idea?Zozo couldn’t help but laugh.

YeahI’m not dirty,” he murmured quietly to himself. He believed he was different from his father.

In a downtown café, Jasmine sat across from a man in his thirties. So, you’re the one who helped Nicolas look into that drowning incident from eight years ago?Jasmine asked, her tone sharp and direct.

Yeah, that’s me. My name’s Paul Jerome. I’m a private investigator, and I’m from the same hometown as Mr.

Mayer. Just call me Paul,he answered, flashing a disrespectful smirk as he eyed Jasmine up and down.

He added, Honestly, I never imagined you’d actually claim credit for someone else saving his life, making Mr. Mayer believe you were his big hero all this time.

Jasmine’s face fell at his words.
