Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 115

What’s wrong?Zoya looked at Wren with confusion.

He pulled his hand back and replied, Nothing.

He just didn’t want her to answer Harvey’s call.

To him, compared to Nicolas, Harvey was the one who truly made him feel threatened.

Previously, he had used some means to make Harvey leave Marabotara and return to Ranard City, preventing him from showing up in front of Zoya again.

But now, with Harvey suddenly calling, Wren couldn’t help but feel a nagging sense of unease.

Zoya answered her phone, hearing Harvey’s familiar voice on the other end. Hey, is your bodyguard assignment finally finished?

How did you know?Zoya asked in surprise.

Harvey said casually, I stopped by the military base and happened to overhear. Now that you’re off duty, when are you heading back to Ranard City?

Zoya froze. The mission was over, which meant she should return to Ranard City.

Do you want me to book you a flight? When you get back, I’ll come to the airport to pick you up!Harvey said, his voice filled with excitement.

Not yet. There are still a few things I need to take care of here before I return. I’ll let you know when I’m coming back,Zoya said.

Although Harvey was a little disappointed he couldn’t see her right away, he thought it wouldn’t be too long. Then I’ll wait for your call. When you’re back, let’s have a good talk. There’s so much I want to say to you.”

Sure thing,Zoya replied.

After hanging up, Wren asked, So you’re going back to Ranard City soon?

Zoya pressed her lips together slightly. Since my mission is over, yes. Once I deal with some personal matters, I’ll go back. There are still some things waiting for me there.

How long will you stay in Marabotara?he asked.

About ten days,” she said. She still needed to properly say goodbye to her greatgrandfather.

Can’t you stay a bit longer? For me?he asked. He didn’t want her to leave too soon. He didn’t want her to see Harvey too soon.

At least not until she liked him a little more. Only then would he feel secure.

Zoya thought for a moment, then said, I can stay a little longer for you, but I won’t stay too long. And even after I return to Ranard City, I won’t remain there for long either. I plan to head to the border again to look for clues about my brother.

She continued, We might have to spend time apart now and then. If that’s something you can’t accept, just say the word now.

Wren’s heart jolted. She was giving him an out, but it was the last thing he wanted. It meant she might choose to walk away from him someday.

Is it just that she likes me and hasn’t fallen in love? Is that why she can walk away so easily? The idea stung, making him feel painfully exposed.

Zozo, I’ve fought so hard to be with you. How could you think I’d call it quits just because we’re apart for a while? Don’t even let that cross your mind,Wren muttered, voice rough with feeling. He bent down, his lips softly grazing the arm she’d wrapped in bandages for his sake.

It was a wound she’d gotten trying to protect him.

Besidesif you’re going to look for your brother, I can go with you.

What?Zoya was startled. You want to come to the border with me?

Absolutely,Wren confirmed.

But what about your job?Zoya couldn’t help but ask.

With the internet these days, I can work anywhere. And besides, what’s the point of having all those people in the Richmond family if I can’t delegate?Wren replied casually.

Zoya thought about it, and it was true. She herself was planning to combine work and searching during her next trip to the border.

It had been five years already. She had searched everywhere, through both military and personal channels. She had even gone to the border three times.

No matter how many dead ends she ran into online, she refused to give up. Her brother had to be alive. She could feel it deep down. So she was determined to make a fourth trip to the border.

Zozo, now that you’ve agreed to be with me, don’t even think about shaking me off,Wren said, lifting his gaze to her. His eyes, usually cool and distant, now smoldered with a sultry, almost seductive intensity.

It was like he was trying to pull her in, to make sure she couldn’t look away.

If it took playing the seducer to make her care about him more, he’d do it. Whatever it took, he’d do it.

Over the next few days, Zoya stayed at Wren’s villa, resting up and letting her arm recover.

To her, it was no big deal, but Wren acted like she was totally laid up. He adjusted her diet, personally changed

her bandages each day, and even moved all his work to the villa so he could stay by her side.

Zoya found his overprotectiveness a bit excessive, but she still felt warmth in her heart. She could tell he genuinely cared for her.

After a week, Zoya’s wound finally scabbed over. Her arm still needed a little TLC, but she was back to moving around pretty much like normal.

Meanwhile, she got an invite from the children’s home, asking her to join in one of their upcoming events.

It was the very same children’s home she’d visited last time out on the island.

Inside the invitation, Zoya noticed a line scribbled in big, clumsy letters by a kid, Zoya, I really hope you’ll come see me perform!

It was signed, adorably, by Mia.

It was the same little girl Zoya had rescued from the ocean last time.

Are you going?Wren asked as he walked over, eyeing the invitation in her hand.

Of course I am!Zoya replied. She couldn’t wait to see how Mia was doing.

Then I’m coming too,Wren said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

To him, wherever she went, he’d always be by her side.

When the weekend came, the two arrived at the orphanage’s event, only to unexpectedly see Jasmine and Nicolas there as well.

Zoya, you here too?Nicolas frowned.

If you can come, why can’t I?Zoya asked with a small laugh.

Nicolas stiffened, then sneered. I’ve already found out. The one who saved me back then was Jasmine, not you. I hope you’ll stop telling such ridiculous lies. It only makes you look more despicable!

Shooting Wren a look, Nicolas added, Mr. Richmond, you’d better keep your eyes open around her, or she’ll have you falling for her tricks.

Wren shot him a cold, mocking smirk. I always knew you were stupid, but I never thought you’d hit rock bottom like this. Nicolas, say one more bad thing about Zozo, and I’ll rip your tongue out.

Nicolas trembled, icy fear shooting down his spine.

Zoya glanced over at Jasmine, who hadn’t uttered a word, then fixed her gaze on Nicolas. I told you before. If you think the one who saved you was Jasmine, then fine, it was her. As for what kind of person I am, you’re in no position to judge.

You!Nicolas blurted out, but with Wren standing right beside Zoya, he instantly chickened out and kept his

mouth shut.

The end was filled with donors from the previous island charity trip. The orphanage had organized performances such as songs, dances, and recitations to thank everyone. There were also several reporters

Once the kids wrapped up their show, the sixteenyearold emcee grabbed the me. Thanks so much to all of you for coming to see us perform. And a special thanks to Miss Jasmine Ingram. We heard she’s not only a pilot but also a firefighting hero from five years ago! Let’s welcome Ms. Ingram to say a few words!

Jasmine was caught off guard, clearly not expecting this. But with everyone’s eyes glued to her, there was no dodging it. She made her way up to the stage.

Standing up front, Jasmine said gently. I’m really not any kind of hero. I just did what a regular person should do. I believe anyone with a heart, faced with a fire like that, would step forward and try to help.

The crowd broke into enthusiastic applause.

But just then, a reporter suddenly called out from below the stage. Ms. Ingram, did you really take part in that rescue? I’ve heard that one of your colleagues died in front of you during the fire, and you didn’t save him. Is that true?
