Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 130

Chapter 130

The live stream abruptly ended after Jasmine fully admitted that she had indeed stood by and watched someone die without helping.

It wasn’t the system that pulled the plug. The kidnapper shut down the stream himself.

What’s on earth the kidnapper after? thought Zoya, frowned. It didn’t look like the kidnapper wanted Jasmine dead at all. More likeHe just wanted Jasmine to admit in front of everyone that she’d once turned a blind eye and let someone die.

Zoya looked down, carefully reviewing the information she’d gathered on her phone. She had a rough idea of the kidnapper’s identity in her mind.

On her phone screen was a photo she’d taken back at an orphanage event.

In the picture, a teenage host from the orphanage was seen inviting Jasmine to go on stage and speak.

The figure of that teenage host looked almost identical to the kidnapper in the video.

Zoya thought again, It has to be the same teenage guy. Is that teenager the kidnapper? And the orphanage

Zoya remembered the news about the fire that suddenly appeared on the island five years ago. It was an orphanage event, and the reporter received a text that triggered a public confrontation with Jasmine.

Every single one of those incidents had ties to the orphanage, which made that teenager look even more suspicious.

Zoya also did some digging into that copilot who lost his life in that huge border fire five years ago. It turned out his wife had died pretty young, so he’d been raising their son all on his own. His son was just eleven when the accident happened.

So, judging by the timing and the age, the teenager could very well be the copilot’s son.

Zoya called the police and told them everything she’d found out.

After Zoya finished the call, Nicolas looked at her, confused. Why are you helping Jasmine? I thought you couldn’t stand her, could you?

Zoya shot back coldly, It’s true that I dislike Jasmine. But I’m a former soldier. I know what it means to serve, and what my duty is.”

Even if I’m no longer in the army, I’m still a soldier deep down. I always play by those rules, thought Zoya.

Nicolas felt a sudden, hard pang in his chest. He was so shaken that he couldn’t look away from Zoya for a while.

‘A soldierNicolas mused. He’d never cared about Zoya’s military past. He always figured she was someone who’d done a stint in the army, nothing more.

In fact, he’d looked down on Zoya. He thought she didn’t have much going for her except being able to endure hardship as a soldier in the military.

Nicolas ended up marrying Zoya when his life was at rock bottom, and Zoya had just lost both her parents.

Nicolas didn’t feel like such a loser whenever he was around Zoya. And back then, being with her always gave him an indescribable sense of peace.

Therefore, Nicolas asked Zoya to marry him, making a secret vow to himself that he’d treat her well. If he’d picked her to be his wife, he owed her his loyalty, and he meant it.

However, when did it all start to unravel?

When did Nicolas and Zoya start growing further and further apart? Was it when he got buried in his business? Or when news of Jasmine’s return spread? Was it that split second at the airport, when Jasmine strode up wearing her captain’s uniform? He honestly couldn’t put his finger on it.

Nicolas didn’t even know himself anymore, lost in the confusion of it all.

Nicolas had no regrets when they got divorced. He was convinced Zoya would be the one kicking herself. He had his whole future mapped out, and Zoya was a former soldier with nothing much to her name. What did she have to look forward to, anyway?

However, Nicolas honestly couldn’t even describe what he was feeling at that moment.

All he knew was, standing in the glow of Zoya’s unwavering sense of right and wrong, he felt like he didn’t measure up at all.

The staff led Nicolas away to help him cool off. The live broadcast was suspended, allowing the show’s

interviews to continue.

However, nobody was paying attention anymore, so the rest of the interview was just rushed through and

ended in a blur.

Zoya got a call from the cops after the interview ended. They’d found the kidnapper.

You found him?Zoya was taken aback. She honestly hadn’t expected the police to move that fast.

Yep. It’s like he was waiting for us to show up,the officer replied. Ms. Lucero, it’s like you figured. The guy is the late copilot’s son. When we arrived, he just stood there and didn’t even put up a fight. For the record, what he poured on Jasmine wasn’t gasoline. It was some fake stuff that wouldn’t even do real damage. If it does ignite, it will only produce a lowtemperature flame.

Zoya pressed her lips together, asking, Can I meet the suspect?

I’m afraid that’s impossible at the moment. He’s only allowed to meet with his lawyer. Honestly, he doesn’t even have one yet,the officer said.

Zoya turned to Wren after hanging up.

However, before she could say a word, Wren had spoken up first, Don’t worry. I’ll send a lawyer over to give

that kid a hand.

Wren’d caught enough of Zoya’s conversation on the phone to know what was up.

Thanks,Zoya said.

Then Zoya thought, The kid didn’t even use real gasoline but some lowtemp flames, which meansHe was never planning to kill Jasmine.

All the kid wanted was for Jasmine to admit the truth in front of everyone!

However… The way the kid went about it was just so intense.’

You don’t have to thank me, Zoya. I will help anyone you want to help,” Wren said gently.

As long as it’s something you wish for, I’ll do whatever it takes to make it come true for you, thought Wren.

Nicolas rushed straight to the hospital as soon as he heard Jasmine had been rescued.

Jasmine had been cleaned up and changed into a hospital gown. She was pretty much okay, other than a few scrapes and bruises on her body.

The cops left after finishing taking her statement.

Nicolas walked into Jasmine’s ward. The moment Jasmine saw him, she struggled to sit up in bed, saying, Nicolas, I can’t believe this actually happened to me. That kidnapper was completely deranged! If the cops hadn’t shown up in time, I might never have seen you again!

Nicolas looked at her, his eyes full of complicated emotions. How are you feeling?asked Nicolas.

The doctor said it’s just some scrapes and bruises,Jasmine replied. But even so, I’m going to drag that psycho to court and make sure he rots in jail. He’s going to pay for what he did, no matter what. There’s no way I’m letting him walk away!

Jasmine’s tone was icy and poisonous, dripping with venom.

Nicolas felt like Jasmine before him was suddenly a stranger. He said, Sure, you can sue him if you want, butThe kidnapper is the son of your colleague who died. All he wanted was for you to finally admit the truth about what happened to his father. After all, you did stand by and let his dad die, didn’t you?

Zoya brought all that up when she was on the phone with the cops. Nicolas heard every word.

What?Jasmine blinked in shock, a hint of panic in her voice. Wait, how do you even know the kidnapper is my colleague’s son? And what are you talking about, me just letting his father die? I seriously have no idea what you’re getting at!

Nicolas licked his dry lips, added, You don’t know? The whole kidnapping was being livestreamed. Right there on camera, you confessed to the kidnapper about leaving his father to die. Everyone was watching, plus all the people at the studio saw everything.”

Jasmine sat there, completely shellshocked, unable to process what she’d just heard.
