Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 149

Eowyn’s body jolted. WaitThat voiceIt can’t beDid Harvey really call Leon, my ex, to come and get him?Eowyn wondered.

But life had a way of throwing curveballs.

Eowyn turned around, and there, standing before her, was a familiar figure.

His tall, slender figure was tailored into a sleek black suit, exuding irresistible allure. Paired with his strikingly handsome face, it was enough to make countless women daydream.

Oh, greatIt really is Leon!Eowyn screamed inwardly.

What a coincidence! She forced an awkward smile.

Yeah, what a coincidence,” Leon said as he strode into the private room and looked down at her.

Eowyn instinctively licked her dry lips. Leon’s features were all sharp lines and angles, and with those deep, sharp eyes of his, just one glance from him gave off an intense sense of pressure.

He was a man of restraint and discipline, just like his appearance.

Leon barely glanced at Eowyn before his eyes landed on Harvey, passed out on the sofa. So, tell me, if I hadn’t shown up, were you really about to undress my nephew? After all, you did the same thing to me back then, didn’t you?

Eowyn practically exploded inside.

Her face flushed bright red. Seriously? How could he even compare the two?she thought to herself.

Back then, she’d only undressed him because she couldn’t resist him. But this time, all she wanted was to help

out!

I didn’t undress Harvey! He threw up, and his clothes were a total mess. I was only trying to help by taking off his jacket!Eowyn blurted out, her voice rising in protest.

Then why were you unbuttoning his shirt?Leon fixed her with that razorsharp gaze.

I just wanted to let him get some air.She met his gaze with a sincereexpression.

After all, Leon was Ranard City’s premier lawyer, and his glare alone could make anyone feel guilty.

Noticing Leon still looked unconvinced, Eowyn hurried to explain, Seriously, I’ve got zero interest, okay? Harvey is not even my type. Even if he got completely naked and started dancing for me, I’d stay totally

unfazed!

Leon raised an eyebrow but said nothing more, instead helping Harvey up. How much did he drink?

Maybe not quite three bottles,Eowyn replied.

What about you?Leon asked.

I only had three or four drinks. I won’t get drunk,Eowyn said.

I’m taking you home,Leon declared.

Eowyn froze, like she’d just been hit with a thunderbolt.

She definitely didn’t want her exboyfriend to drive her back to her place, so she said, No need. You can take him instead. I’ll go back myselfWell, I’ll get a designated driver.

Leon’s eyes narrowed, dark and intense, the pressure practically rolling off him. His lips pressed into a cold, commanding line. Just follow.

Leon’s car was parked just outside the bar. He got Harvey settled in the back seat, then swung open the passenger door for Eowyn. Hop in.

Eowyn tried to slip away, but Leon stopped her cold. Are you going to cooperate and get in the car, or should

press charges for your suspicious behavior around Harvey?

Eowyn’s steps came to a sudden halt.

So, being too kindhearted will get you taught a lesson by society,Eowyn thought bitterly.

Eowyn awkwardly took the passenger seat as Leon started the car and slowly pulled away from the bar.

Address,Leon’s deep, elegant voice echoed through the car, cutting into the quiet.

Eowyn reluctantly gave the address, and then silence settled over the car.

Eowyn awkwardly stared straight ahead, though her peripheral vision caught Leon driving.

He looked even more handsome than when they broke up. Some of his youthful awkwardness had faded, replaced by a poised maturity and an air of restrained sensuality.

It made me want to tear off his suit and reduce him to a helpless messNo! Cut it out!Eowyn snapped at herself, forcing her thoughts away. Seriously, stop it. We’re done!

When they finally pulled up to Eowyn’s place, she mumbled a quick thanks, unbuckled her seatbelt, and was just about to get out when Leon’s voice cut through the silence.

After we broke up, did you ever regret it?he asked.

Eowyn stiffened. No, I’m actually glad we broke up.

With that, she reached for the door, but suddenly, Leon grabbed her wrist from across the seat. Glad? You’re that disgusted by our relationship?

He stared hard at her, his usually polished face shadowed by a rare, moody darkness.

Yet even so, he remained composed and precise. His grip on her wrist was measured enough to avoid hurting

her, yet firm enough to make escape impossible.

I’m not disgusted by our relationship. After all, I had quite a thing for you back then,” Eowyn said with a smile. But like someone who dines on rich food every day eventually grows tired of itI’ve just grown tired.

Leon glared at her.

Mr. Hoyles, mind letting go?Eowyn said.

Leon pressed his lips into a hard line but finally released her. Eowyn slid out of the car and added, And hey, if you ever start feeling nostalgic, I wouldn’t exactly mind a steamy encore. Even when you’re tired of something, sometimes it’s fun to go back for a taste.

As expected, she saw the coldness in his eyes after she said that.

She shut the car door and walked into the residential area without looking back.

A man as proud as Leon would naturally detest someone like me who says such things,Eowyn thought. We were never meant to walk the same path. He’s someone who loathes complications, while I’m the kind who attracts trouble wherever I go.

Eowyn gave a bitter little laugh, brushing off the thought. Whatever, he’s just a guy,she told herself. I have way more going on in my life than just men.’

The next day, Eowyn went shopping with Zoya at the mall.

By the way, you didn’t come back to my place last night. Did you end up staying at Wren’s?Eowyn asked.

Yeah,Zoya replied. She’d actually planned to head back to Eowyn’s, but Wren had given her that puppydog look, acting all needy and saying, Zozo, you know how that perfume set me off last time. I’m scared I’ll have another nightmare tonight.”

Zoya couldn’t bring herself to turn him down.

So, are you two moving in together?Eowyn asked, curiosity sparking in her voice.

Yeah, I think so,Zoya replied honestly.

Then remember to use protection, unless you’re already prepared to have a child, in which case never mind.Eowyn reminded her seriously.

What are you insinuating? Just because I’m moving in with Wren doesn’t mean things have gone that far!Zoya shot back.

Eowyn shrugged. Not now, but that doesn’t mean never. You dare say you’ve never felt the urge to…. Well, devour him?

Zoya hesitated, looking guilty. Well, fineI guess the thought has crossed my mind, even if just a little, she

admitted to herself.

While they were joking around, Zoya abruptly stopped walking and frowned.

What’s wrong?Eowyn followed Zoya’s gaze and spotted Nicolas’s mom and sister, along with Jasmine, all arms full of shopping bags, heading right their way.

Just my luck. Of course, I’d run smack into the whole rival clan,’ Eowyn grumbled to herself.
