Chapter 160
Wren’s whole body jolted, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at Zoya.
“What… What did you say?” he asked, his voice almost trembling.
After he said that, he held his breath without even realizing it.
He was afraid he’d misheard, or maybe he’d gotten the wrong idea, or maybe… Zoya didn’t mean it the way he thought.
He was afraid that, in the end, it would just be another false hope.
Zoya smiled, her voice steady and clear as she repeated, “Wren, I want you. Do you want me, too?”
Wren’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed. ‘How could I not want her?‘ he thought.
“I do, Zozo. I want you. I want you so much,” Wren murmured.
The next moment, Wren scooped Zoya up in his arms bridal style and carried her over to the edge of the bed.
Zoya gazed at the bed in front of her. Since she’d come back to Ranard City, she’d been sleeping next to Wren every night.
She’d never really thought much about the bed before, but now, as she realized what was about to happen, her cheeks grew warm and her heart started pounding.
He gently laid her down on the bed and asked, “Are you sure about this? No regrets?”
Zoya smirked, “And what if I do?”
He pressed his lips together, his eyes fixed on her. “If you really regret it, then even if I want you so badly, I won’t lay a finger on you.”
He would suppress that impulse, waiting until she was truly willing.
With a smile, Zoya yanked Wren’s arm. The next moment, he was sprawled on the bed, her fingers pressing against his chest.
“I won’t regret this, and you’d better not, either,” Zoya said playfully, leaning in to claim his lips with a kiss, her fingers wandering down to start undoing his belt.
Wherever her fingertips grazed, Wren’s muscles coiled in response, his skin blooming into rose–tinted warmth, shuddering faintly beneath her touch.
He knew she was finally opening her heart to him completely, and it meant he had truly entered her inner world.
“Zozo, I love you,” he murmured, wanting to show her the very best version of himself.
He’d always thought his body was just an empty shell, but now, if it could bring Zoya happiness, then that was a gift he was grateful for.
That night, the usually aloof Wren was completely undone by Zoya, his whole body trembling with desire.
His low, ragged breaths, the moans he couldn’t hold back, and the way his body tensed and trembled with excitement, all of it told her just how much he loved her, how much he cherished her, and how desperately
he craved her.
By the end, Zoya was so exhausted that she couldn’t even lift a finger. She felt like she’d just survived a war.
Half–asleep, she closed her eyes, and through the haze, she felt gentle lips pressing a careful kiss to her forehead.
“Zozo, from now on, you’re not allowed to leave me,” Wren’s voice was rough and low, right by her ear.
‘You fool! When would I ever leave you?‘ Zoya thought, and that was the last thought lingering in her mind as she slipped into sleep.
The next morning, when Zoya opened her eyes, she heard a familiar voice in her ear.
“You’re awake? If you want to sleep a bit longer, go ahead. I already called in for you,” Wren said.
“What?” Zoya blinked, surprised. “You called in for me?”
“Yeah, Eowyn called this morning, asking why you weren’t at the office. I told her you were wiped out last night, so you needed today off. Sorry, I made the call myself.” Wren explained.
Zoya rubbed her forehead, ‘With Eowyn’s knack for connecting the dots and her endless curiosity, she’s bound to guess what happened last night, she mused.
It wasn’t like Zoya wanted to hide it. Since it happened, there was no need to hide.
Still, just imagining the way Eowyn would give her that sly look and start grilling her for all the juicy details made Zoya’s head throb.
Zoya pressed a hand to her forehead and sat up.
Only when she got up did she notice the dull pain radiating through her muscles.
When she looked down, she realized her skin was covered in bruises and love bites.
‘Oh my god, seriously, how many rounds did we even have last night?‘ Zoya was stunned, hurriedly pulling the blanket up around herself, then sneaking a peek at Wren, who was already dressed and looking bright- eyed and annoyingly fresh.
‘Why is it that after a night like that, guys end up refreshed while girls are just wrecked?‘ Zoya wondered.
“Are you still feeling unwell?” Wren asked with concern.
“Not really… Just a little sore,” Zoya answered, and only then realized how fresh and clean she felt, no sticky feeling at all. ‘Guess he must’ve washed me up afterward, she thought.
Zoya looked at Wren, momentarily lost in thought.
“What’s wrong?” Wren asked, suddenly looking a little uneasy. “Did I get carried away and make you uncomfortable last night? Or did I not make you feel good enough? Honestly, it was my first time too. I’ll do better next time.”
“No, that’s not it… You, um, you were pretty good,” Zoya mumbled, her face turning red hot.
Last night, though his movements were clumsy, he was attentive… Yet despite his attentiveness, he never seemed to get enough.
Just when she thought they were finally done, he’d come right back, wanting even more.
But when she tried to refuse, seeing his intense desire mixed with pleading in his eyes, she softened and let him have his way. That was why she ended up exhausted.
“I just realized… I trust you more than I ever thought I would.” Zoya said softly.
Normally, even when she was wiped out, her guard stayed up. If Wren had cleaned her last night, she would’ve snapped awake at least for a second.
Yet somehow, she’d slept right through until morning, which was rare for her.
It was like having Wren by her side made her feel truly safe, a sense of peace she hadn’t known before.
Hearing that, Wren flashed a soft, teasing smile. “Let me help you get dressed.”
Zoya’s cheeks instantly turned crimson. “No, really, I can manage myself.”
“You must still be aching. Let me help instead. I want to do something for you,” Wren said gently.
Zoya’s blush deepened. ‘Yeah, that’s exactly the kind of “help” I do not need right now!‘
“Seriously, I can handle it!” Zoya insisted. “Can you just grab me some fresh clothes, please?”
Wren then strolled over to the closet and grabbed her clothes, including her underwear, without even blinking.
Zoya shot him a sideways glance. He looked cool as ever, totally unfazed, not a trace of embarrassment anywhere on his face.
Sometimes he was all nervous and careful around her, but other times, he was so smooth and confident that she couldn’t help but be impressed.
“Turn around!” Zoya demanded, her cheeks flushing.
With a compliant stance, Wren turned his back to her.
Only then did Zoya pull the blanket aside and start getting dressed.
He’d seen more than enough last night, but if he actually tried to help her get dressed, she’d be absolutely mortified.
Her body felt like it had just been pulled apart, aching all over. ‘Looks like I should really work out more, or I’ll be even worse off next time,‘ Zoya thought, making a mental note.
She then froze, surprised at her own expectations. ‘Wait… Next time? Am I actually hoping there’ll be another round with Wren? But then again… It doesn’t seem like a bad thing. Everything between me and Wren seems to happen so naturally, like it’s the most ordinary thing in the world.’
“All set?” Wren asked.
“Yeah, I’m done,” Zoya replied.
She’d finished getting dressed and was reaching for her slippers to put them on.
But before she could move, Wren knelt right in front of her, picked up the slippers, and with careful tenderness, slipped them onto her feet.
