Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 167

Chapter 167

Then, another figure walked into view. It was obviously a man. Zoya believed that he must have been the co pilot who had already passed.

In the video, Jasmine was clearly seen making a tossing gesture, most likely throwing away a stilllit cigarette,

Moments later, flames suddenly sparked to life in the frame, but right then, the drone shifted its view elsewhere.

Those were the only shots of Jasmine, the copilot, and the start of the fire,

But for Zoys, that was all she needed to see.

Zoya stared intently at the moment Jasmine tossed the cigarette. Her eyes soon reddened.

If Jasmine hadn’t carelessly thrown away that lit cigarette, there wouldn’t have been that raging fire. No one would’ve died or gotten hurt, and her brother never would’ve gone missing.

So Jasmine was the one who got my brother in trouble! Zoya’s thoughts swirled angrily, her heart aching.

Her fists clenched so tightly that her knuckles made a sharp cracking sound.

Zoya’d never hated anyone like this before. Even when Jasmine swooped in and took her spot as Nicolas’s savior, messing up her marriage, Zoya never truly hated her. She just felt disgusted by Jasmine.

Because deep down, Zoya knew it was Nicolas who had truly ruined their marriage.

But right now, that burning hatred just couldn’t be bottled up anymore, no matter how hard she tried,

Nearly shaking with suppressed rage, Zoya gripped her phone so hard it nearly slipped from her hand before she called Wren.

She asked, Wren, can you help me track down Jasmine? I need to know where she is right now.”

Wren answered readily, Sure thing, Hey, are you okay? Your voice sounds kinda off

I’m fine. It’s just that I’ve finally figured out who caused that fire at the border!Zoya’s words were tight, almost trembling with anger,

It was Jasmine? Wren asked.

Yes! If she hadn’t started that fire, my brother wouldn’t have gone missing! If something really happened to himZoya’s breath hitched, and her voice broke. She was too terrified to imagine the worst possibilities that could have happened to her brother.

She added, I swear that I won’t let Jasmine off the hook. She’s going to pay for everything!

You won it, Wren said immediately, Whatever you decide to do, I’m with you. Hang tight. I’ll send word as soon as I find something

After hanging up. Zoya drew in a deep breath, her eyes fixed once again on the computer screen as she looked at the exact moment Jasmine tossed that cigarette.

Her heart ached violently.

I hate Jasmine so much!Zoya thought.

As Jasmine and Nicolas walked out of the hospital, a smile danced at the corners of Jasmine’s eyes and lips. She looked genuinely cheerful.

Are you okay?Nicolas asked.

After all, Jasmine had just gone for a gynecology appointment, and he felt awkward pressing for details about the checkup.

Jasmine’s voice was practically sparkling. I’m fine, Nicolas. I’m just so happy!

The hospital tests had confirmed her suspicions. She was pregnant.

Now that she was carrying Nicolas’s baby, it felt like she had a powerful guarantee backing her. No matter what Nicolas might find out about her one day, there was no way he’d abandon her, not with their child on the line.

On top of that, Nicolas was absolutely head over heels for her.

As for that detective who threatened her, Jasmine was going to make sure that he’d regret this action for the rest of his life.

Just thinking about it sent a dangerous glint flickering through Jasmine’s eyes.

Happy?Nicolas asked, confusion written all over his face. He was just about to press for answers when a car suddenly screeched to a halt right in front of them. Then, someone hopped out.

Jasmine, Mr. Richmond wants a word with you,the guy said flatly.

What?Jasmine and Nicolas both froze, totally caught off guard.

Nicolas narrowed his brows and asked, Why does Mr. Richmond suddenly want to see Jasmine?

But the guy clearly wasn’t about to answer Nicolas. With a curt gesture, two hulking men grabbed Jasmine and forced her into the car.

Nicolas!Jasmine screamed, desperation lacing her voice.

Nicolas barked, What the hell do you think you’re doing? Are you really trying to kidnap her in public?

He barely got the words out before they seized him as well and shoved him into the car right next to Jasmine.

The car immediately rolled away from the hospital.

Zoya stood by the riverbank, staring out at the restless current swirling before her.

This was the spot where she’d once hauled Nicolas out, saving his life. However, she never imagined that she’d end up so caught up in Nicolas’s world later.

She never saw it coming that Jasmine would swoop in and claim the credit for saving Nicolas.

Zoya felt that meeting Jasmine by this river was kind of fitting.

Everything tangled between her and Jasmine had all started right here.

Whatever you want to do to Jasmine, don’t hold back. Even if all hell breaks loose, I’ll handle it for you,” Wren said, firmly standing by Zoya’s side.

Zoya turned to him. Even if I hate her so much that I want to kill her?

If you need someone to do the dirty work, I’ll be there for you,” Wren said without a hint of hesitation.

Zoya pressed her lips together. Right at that moment, her phone buzzed. Harvey was calling her.

She answered, and Harvey’s voice rang out. Zoya, where are you? I’ve got something interesting that I’d like you to see!

I’m down by the river,” Zoya replied.

The river?Harvey was surprised.

Yeah, I’m meeting Jasmine here. There’s something I need to ask her,Zoya said.

What are the odds. The thing I’ve got for you is actually about Jasmine. I’m on my way over!Harvey said before ending the call.

Harvey’s coming over here?Wren asked, glancing at Zoya by the riverside.

Yeah, apparently he’s got something he wants to show me. It’s got something to do with Jasmine,” Zoya replied.

As they spoke, a car pulled up and stopped right in front of them.

The doors swung open, and a couple of burly bodyguards dragged Jasmine and Nicolas out of the car.

Nicolas’s face was marked with some obvious bruises, clear proof he’d been beaten up.

As soon as Nicolas saw Zoya, his anger exploded. He yelled, Zoya, did you have Wren force us over here? Is it because I divorced you? Is this your twisted way of trying to embarrass me?

Nicolas, I couldn’t care less about humiliating you,Zoya said coldly, eyes boring into Jasmine. Just glaring at her, Zoya could feel rage churning hot in her chest.

Wren’s brows knit with annoyance as he turned to his men. I said only bring Jasmine. Why is he here?

One of the men replied quickly. He was with Jasmine at the time. We figured it was safer to bring him, too, in case things went sideways.

Zoya, aren’t you always so obsessed with playing by the rules? Do you even get that kidnapping us is totally illegal? I could take you to court for this!Jasmine yelled.

Breaking the law?Zoya stepped up to Jasmine, hands clenched tight, her voice cold with fury barely held in

check.

She asked, What about you? How many crimes have you committed, Jasmine?

That border fire started because you couldn’t bother to put out your cigarette. How many people died because you just tossed it away without a care in the world?
