Chapter 189
But just as Wren was about to touch Zoya’s phone, he stopped himself.
He thought, ‘If I really go through her phone like this, wouldn’t this just become another thing I’m keeping
from her?
‘She’d definitely not like that.
‘She did say she’d tell me after a few days.
‘So I just need to wait quietly, and let her tell me when she’s ready.’
Letting out a long breath, Wren pulled his hand back and gazed deeply at Zoya’s sleeping face. “Zoya, I won’t do anything that’ll make you upset anymore.”

On the third day, just like they agreed, Zoya transferred 30 million dollars into the target’s account, all while keeping her tracker running in the background.
Sure enough, the target quickly split it into multiple transfers and wired the money out.
This was exactly what Zoya had been waiting for.
Now it was time to track them down and lock onto their location.
From tracing those emails, she’d only managed to narrow it down to somewhere in Ranard City.
But that was as far as she could get. Any more specifics were out of reach.
Now, thanks to the target moving the money in batches, she had a real shot at tightening her search.
Sure enough, the recipient was still hiding out somewhere in Ranard City.
She had to zero in and figure out exactly where they were!
Zoya’s fingers raced across the keyboard. Now it was a true showdown. She had to find the target before they moved the last of the money out.
As she slammed the enter key, Zoya stared at the address that popped up onscreen, her eyes going cold.
Ten minutes later, Wren was in his office at the company when his secretary, Gilbert, came in with a report.
“Mr. Richmond, Ms. Lucero suddenly left with her bodyguards for the Earl Hotel about ten minutes ago,” Gilbert said.
Wren stiffened. “Did she say what she was going there for?”
“No, she didn’t mention it. But I know Daphne has been staying at the Earl Hotel lately,” Gilbert replied.
Having been assigned to keep a close watch on Daphne, Gilbert was well aware of exactly where she’d been staying ever since she arrived in Ranard City.
As soon as he heard Zoya was heading over to the Earl Hotel, Daphne instantly popped into Gilbert’s mind.
An unsettling feeling swept through Wren.
Wren shot to his feet, grabbed his car keys, and bolted out of the office.
“Mr. Richmond!” Gilbert called out, totally baffled.
Gilbert thought, ‘Why is Mr. Richmond in such a hurry? Even if Ms. Zoya’s gone to confront Ms. Daphne, she’s got the skills and a bunch of bodyguards. She’ll be fine.
‘Is Mr. Richmond scared right now?’
The next moment, Gilbert couldn’t help but dismiss the idea.
‘Scared? No way, that’s just not Mr. Richmond!’ he told himself.
Meanwhile, in her hotel room, Daphne was absolutely gleeful as she finished counting her newfound fortune. With a flourish, she sent off a video about Zoya’s brother through a freshly-made anonymous email account, wearing a smug grin the whole time.
After the message was sent, that email address would be wiped from existence-there wasn’t a soul alive who could track it back to her.
She’d specifically picked up these tricks from a professional just for this transaction.
Daphne sneered under her breath, ‘Zoya Lucero, I really hope you trace all this back to Wren. I want to see the look on your face when you finally learn what he did back then. Are you still going to stand by him once you know the truth?’
If this actually split Zoya up from Wren, Daphne felt that she would finally have a shot.
Just as Daphne was about to pop open a bottle of red wine to celebrate, there was a sudden knock at the door.
“Who is it?” Daphne called out.
“Room service,” a voice replied from the hallway.
“I didn’t order any room service,” Daphne said as she pulled open the hotel room door.
But the moment she saw who was standing at her door, Daphne’s eyes widened in shock and she instantly tried to shut it.
Before she could even blink, Zoya had already kicked the door wide open.
Daphne stumbled several steps back and landed flat on her rear, looking utterly flustered.
Daphne sprang up, glaring daggers at Zoya. “Zoya, what’s your problem barging into my room and making a
scene? I’m calling the cops!”
“Go ahead. I can’t wait to find out how much time you’ll spend behind bars for that little stunt with 30 million dollars,” Zoya said coldly.
Daphne’s bravado melted into pure panic. “What are you talking about? What 30 million dollars?”
Zoya marched right up to Daphne, her gaze icy. “Daphne, I can give 30 million dollars to you. But first, explain yourself.
“How did you end up with that video? Where and when exactly did you meet my brother? I want you to tell me everything you know!”
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” Daphne denied flatly, trying to sound innocent.
Zoya pressed her lips together, then gestured to the bodyguards to grab Daphne.
Daphne struggled like crazy, “Let me go. This is illegal. I’ll sue every one of you!”
Zoya ignored Daphne’s shouting and went straight for Daphne’s laptop. It took no time for her to dig up all the evidence of the money transfers.
“So, you still planning to call the cops?” Zoya sneered.
Daphne’s face drained of all color. She looked as if she’d seen a ghost.
“Daphne, tell me everything you know now!” Zoya advanced step by step, her voice cold.
She added, “If you come clean, I won’t claw back that 30 million. But if you don’t, I won’t go easy on you. Trust me, I’ll use any means necessary to get the truth out of you.”
Her brother’s whereabouts were everything to her.
Daphne blurted out, “I bumped into your brother when I was traveling near the border with Dracorialand. Someone stole my stuff, so I reported it to the police.
“That’s how I ended up with that surveillance footage. Honestly, I didn’t even realize it was your brother until I saw his photo later, and then, I thought maybe I could cash in on it or something.”
Zoya demanded, “In the video, my brother was getting roughed up. I saw you get out of the car, but there had to be someone else inside, right? He was clinging to the door, desperately talking to someone. Who was it? What was he saying?”
The surveillance footage only captured the images.
Daphne’s anxiety spiked even higher, her face turning even more frantic.
“I honestly can’t remember…” she muttered.
“Can’t remember?” Zoya narrowed her eyes, her tone sharp as a knife. She didn’t buy Daphne’s act for a
second.
Chapter 189
She said, “Or are you just refusing to talk? Daphne, don’t forget that my brother’s in the military.
“The army has been relentlessly searching for him. If I hand you over and let them interrogate you, let’s see if you still dare keep silent about who was in that back seat.”
Daphne shuddered all over. If Zoya really turned her over to the military, she’d have no choice but to spill everything.
But if she actually told them the truth, Wren would go after her without mercy.
“The person in the back seat was…” Daphne faltered.
Just as Daphne was caught between her dread of the army and her fear of Wren, a person suddenly burst through the door.
“Zoya!” Wren’s urgent, familiar voice echoed through the hotel room.
Zoya whipped around in shock, only to see Wren standing in the doorway.
