Chapter 191
Zoya’s heart skipped a beat.
She could feel her heart sinking deeper with every second.
He didn’t even try to deny it.
That silence made it clear that Daphne was probably telling the truth.
‘So, it really was Wren in the back seat that night?’ Zoya thought.
Daphne said, “Zoya, now you know Wren has left your brother to die. Do you even know how your brother begged him for help? But Wren just had his men drag your brother away.
“That’s the kind of heartless person he is. You said you could forgive him before, but now, can you still forgive him?”
Zoya pressed her lips together so hard they turned white, the pain in her chest growing sharper with every word.
But even so, she forced herself to stay calm, walking over to Wren step by step. “Let’s go home,” she said.
She had so many questions she needed answers to.
Wren glanced up at Zoya, an uneasy tremor in his eyes, his body frozen stiff with shock. He couldn’t move until she took his hand and led him out of the hotel room, finally snapping him back to himself.
“Zozo, I…” Wren murmured, barely able to get the words out, his mind blank with guilt and confusion.
“We’ll talk when we get home,” Zoya replied coldly, her grip firm as she pulled him downstairs without looking back.
The driver spotted them and jumped out to open the car door right away.
Inside the car, Zoya remained silent. Wren sat nervously by her side, mind racing as he desperately tried to figure out how to fix things.
The secret he’d tried so hard to keep hidden had exploded right in his face. She had found out in the one way he feared most.
The thought of losing her was eating him up inside, flooding his entire being with dread.
Wren felt helpless. He wondered how he could keep her around after this.
The car pulled up in front of the apartment building.
Zoya got out first and walked ahead with determined steps.
Wren followed close behind, anxiety twisting in his gut. As soon as they stepped into the apartment, it felt like
the air was thick with stifling tension.
“So, you really met my brother five years ago, right?” Zoya’s voice finally broke the tense silence in the room.
Wren kept quiet, not sure how to answer. He was afraid that anything he said might make things worse.
“Don’t lie to me. Back when we first started seeing each other, you swore that you’d always tell me the truth, no matter what I asked. Or have you forgotten that promise?” Zoya pressed.
Wren clenched his lips, struggling for a long moment before he finally forced out a hoarse reply, “Yes.”
“So, when my brother was calling for help, you really were sitting in the back seat?” Zoya asked again, her voice eerily calm.
Wren stared numbly at her back, lost in shock.
They were only a few steps apart, but suddenly, it felt like she was a million miles away.
Wren eventually said, as if the word was dragged out from deep inside him, “Yes. Zoya, please forgive me. If I’d known it was your brother, I swear I never would’ve just stood by and done nothing!”
Zoya’s body trembled as she slowly turned to face Wren.
“Just stood by and did nothing?” Zoya’s lips curled bitterly, the irony of it all almost unbearable.
Jasmine had once turned her back on someone who needed help. Zoya despised this kind of cruelty from the bottom of her heart.
Now, the man she loved had done the same to her brother.
She asked, “Why didn’t you tell me before? You obviously knew I was looking for my brother, and you’d seen his picture. Or are you seriously telling me you just forgot what happened five years ago? Is that why you said nothing?”
She thought, ‘Even Daphne figured out I was searching for my brother. Is it possible that Wren has forgotten about him?’
“Wren, just be straight with me-I want the real answer, not another lie!” Zoya pressed.
She gripped her hands tighter and tighter, barely able to steady herself as she waited for him to speak. Deep down, her nerves were stretched to the breaking point.
“I’m sorry,” Wren said at last, his voice husky with guilt.
Zoya felt her heart crashing down to rock bottom after hearing his words.
Suddenly, Zoya strode up to Wren, her fist flying as she smashed him right in the face.
The punch landed hard on his face.
But Wren didn’t even flinch. He just stood there and took it.
“Why did you lie to me? You saw my brother in Dracorialand, and you kept that from me. That was the most important clue, and you just kept it to yourself!” Zoya’s eyes were rimmed with red, her voice shaking with fury.
Wren said, “I’m so sorry, Zoya. I was scared that if I told you the truth, you’d never forgive me. You’d leave me for good. I really did send people to look for your brother in Dracorialand. I just thought I’d confess everything once we’d actually found him…”
“So you only tell the truth when it suits you, is that it?” Zoya scoffed, a bitter, mocking laugh escaping her lips. She threw another punch.
She asked, “Do you have any idea how much I trusted you before today? You destroyed all of that in an
instant!”
“I’m sorry…” Wren kept mumbling. He didn’t even know what else he could say.
Zoya didn’t hold back, pounding Wren again and again, rage and disappointment bursting out with every punch. He staggered backward, barely able to stay on his feet, until Zoya finally stopped.
She stared at Wren’s once-handsome face, now battered and messy from her punches, a thin streak of blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. Zoya’s nose tingled, and the ache in her chest grew sharper and
heavier.
She never imagined she’d hit the man she loved.
“When my brother called for help that night, what exactly did he say?” Zoya demanded, her voice taut with
anger.
Wren muttered bitterly, “All he did was beg me to help him. He was injured, and the only reason it stuck with me was because he was speaking in Iritarian.
“But honestly, I had no sympathy back then. I was so damn emotionless and indifferent about everything, so I just…”
He hesitated, voice trembling as he forced himself to go on. “I didn’t want to mess with anything in Dracorialand, so I told my men to just pull him out of the way, so he wouldn’t block my car.”
Zoya let out a broken, bitter laugh, her emotions spiraling out of control. ‘What was my brother going through back then? Did he feel completely hopeless?’ she thought.
Her voice shook as she asked, “Was there anyone trying to hurt him back then?”
Wren replied awkwardly, “I honestly didn’t notice. That place had a few shady businesses nearby.
“After I realized I’d actually run into your brother before, I sent people back to Dracorialand to look for him, but they couldn’t find a thing. He probably wasn’t in any of those places.”
Zoya lowered her eyes, heart sinking even further. ‘If he is not there, that means he has left. Or maybe he’s already dead,’ she thought.
She knew that area all too well. It was notorious for being chaotic and dangerous.

‘No way. I refuse to believe my brother’s dead. No matter how hard things got, he would survive! Zoya thought.
Zoya lifted her gaze, locking eyes with Wren. “One last question. When did you figure out you’d met my
brother before?”
Wren said. “It was when you took me to that place in town. I saw that picture of you and your brother on the wall. That’s when I put it all together.”
Zoya drew in a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She thought, ‘So he’s been keeping this from me since way back then.
This is ridiculous. Back when we started dating, I even made a big deal about not wanting any lies between us.’
“So when we got together, you said you’d never hide anything from me. Was that your plan all along? If I never asked, you’d just hide the truth like it was nothing?” Zoya shot back, her eyes blazing with a fierce and wounded glare.
“Zozo. I swear, I won’t ever do this to you again. I’ll come clean about everything in the future!” Wren blurted out anxiously.
“In the future?” Zoya repeated, her voice trembling as confusion swirled in her eyes.
She thought, ‘Is it possible for us to share a future together?’
