Nicolas turned his head and saw the party hall’s big screen. It had originally shown the event name and a welcome message, but now the image displayed his mother, his sister, Zoya, and two unfamiliar men.
Zoya was slumped against the bedside, and the two strangers were closing in on her with clearly malicious intent.
His mother, Anica, wore a venomous expression as she spoke.
For a moment, Nicolas felt his mind go blank, unable to comprehend what was happening.
Jasmine’s face went pale as well. ‘What on earth is this?

‘Although I know the Mayer women have plotted against Zoya, why is this scene playing on the party screen? Who has done this?‘
As Jasmine worried, the Zoya on the screen gasped for breath and said, “Aren’t you afraid you’ll face legal consequences for doing this?”
“Legal consequences? Who’s going to see it?” Violette laughed. “You used the key card yourself to enter this room. The booking was made under your name. Later, people will just assume you booked this room with those two men to hook up.”
Nicolas’s eyes widened. He could not believe the sweet, charming sister he remembered was smiling as she said such vicious things.
Nicolas thought, ‘No way. Violette could never do something like this!
Eowyn lunged forward, grabbed Nicolas by the collar, and glared at him with bloodshot eyes. “There’s not a decent one in the Mayer family. Which hotel room did your mother and sister take Zoya to? If those men lay a finger on her, I’ll make them pay for their lives.”
“What? They’re in a room at this hotel?” Nicolas exclaimed.
“Your mother called to arrange to meet Zoya at the hotel,” Eowyn said.
Eowyn blamed herself, ‘Why did I only tell her to be careful? I shouldn’t have let Zoya go alone. What if something really happened to her?‘
“Quick, check which room it is,” Eowyn shouted to the hotel staff when she saw Nicolas looking confused.
“Y–yes!” the staff stammered, grabbed a radio, and began contacting other hotel personnel to locate Zoya’s room.
Nicolas tried to argue, “Maybe this is just a misunderstanding. Maybe there is some other explanation.”
Before he could finish, Violette’s vicious voice came through the speakers tied to the screen and filled the hall.
She said, “By the way, I’m going to take some more good shots. If you dare to call the police, those compromising photos of yours will end up online and be seen by thousands of men.”
Eowyn, furious, cursed at Nicolas. “A misunderstanding? That’s nonsense. Nicolas, Zoya marrying you was the worst luck of her life.”
Heat rushed into Nicolas’s face and he could not find a word to defend himself.
“Do you think Nicolas will forgive you for doing this?” Zoya asked from the screen.
“I bet he will thank me. If you cheat, he’ll have a reason to divorce you and then be with Jasmine without shame.” Violette laughed. “Besides, my brother has always loved Jasmine. To him you’re just useless, a wife to be thrown away.”

Chapter 25
Many people at the party recognized Nicolas and Jasmine, and now dozens of eyes turned toward the pair.
To them, the two seemed a perfect golden couple: a rising tech figure and an Ingram heiress.
But now…
“Wait! Nicolas Mayer is already married?”
“Is he really going to abandon his wife for Miss Ingram?”
“You won’t regret it? How will you not regret it?” Violette sneered and shouted to the men, “Aren’t you taking off her clothes yet?”
As it looked like they were about to strip Zoya, many at the party could not bear to watch and shut their eyes.
But the next instant, one of the men who had been moving toward Zoya was suddenly knocked to the floor.
Most people did not even see how Zoya had struck. The scene stunned everyone at the party and left Anica and Violette in the room frozen.
“Quick, pin her down. She took a knockout drug and had no strength,” Violette cried.
The other man finally reacted. The one who had been knocked down pushed himself up, wincing and glaring at Zoya. “Fine. You made me look bad. Just wait and see what I do to you.”

The sound was flesh meeting flesh. The blows were direct and efficient, no flashy moves, just solid hits to bring someone down.
Because of the gown, each of Zoya’s movements sent the skirt flying in pretty arcs.
The fight looked less like a brawl and more like a graceful dance.
Soon, both men were sprawled on the floor, groaning, while the woman in the deep–blue gown stood with her long hair flying.
At that moment, Zoya was like a sword drawn from its sheath. Her almond–shaped eyes that once seemed gentle now burned with a fierce sharpness that made people fear her and marvel at the same time.
