“Are you really giving the drone patent to Nicolas?” Eowyn was taken aback when she heard Nicolas’s terms for the divorce.

“Giving him the patent doesn’t mean he’ll be able to use it,” Zoya said. “My things aren’t that easy to handle.”

Hearing this. Eowyn knew Zoya had a backup plan and relaxed. “And what about you? For the divorce, what’s Nicolas giving you?”

“I asked for 500 thousand dollars,” Zoya said. It was the request she had made to Nicolas before leaving.

“What? Only 500 thousand?” Eowyn exclaimed. “You helped Nicolas get the company listed. In a divorce, he should at least split half his assets with you.”

Zoya explained, “His company is short on cash right now. All his money’s tied up in it, and his real estate’s mortgaged to the bank. He has shares, but they can’t be sold for three years.”

“Even if I asked for more, he couldn’t pay,” Zoya added. “Besides, I just want the divorce done quickly. I don’t want to be tied to him anymore.”

You could make him sign an agreement to give you your share once the shares unlock,” Eowyn said.

Zoya shrugged. “I don’t think Nicolas’s shares will be worth much in three years.” She didn’t want to drag things out over future worthless shares.

Eowyn got it. Nicolas lacked the ability to run such a company. It had gone public in three years only because of Zoya’s skills.

Unfortunately, Nicolas lacked this self–awareness. Who knew what state Mayer Technology would be in three years from

now?

“Then why did you ask for this 500 thousand dollars?” Eowyn wondered. It was neither a large nor small sum.

Zoya gave a bitter smile. “Five hundred thousand was my parents‘ death benefit. I used that money to help Nicolas start his business. Now that we’re cutting ties, at least I want that back.”

Eowyn gritted her teeth upon hearing this. “Nicolas is such a bastard. He used your parents‘ benefit to start his business but wouldn’t even go pick up their ashes.

“If your brother ever comes back and finds out you married such a thing, he’d definitely give you an earful.”

Zoya smiled wryly. “Yeah, if my brother knew, he’d definitely scold me.”

Zoya’s brother Oscar, who had always doted on her, was sharp–tongued but deeply responsible. Zoya had once feared his scoldings.

Because he could rant for ages without a single swear word, making h

ears ring. But now? She missed those scoldings.

“Just wait. It won’t be long before you get that scolding,” Eowyn huffed. Zoya smiled, knowing Eowyn meant she’d find Oscar

soon.

Zoya said, “After the divorce, I’ll take my parents‘ ashes back to our hometown for burial. Then I plan to go to the border to look for Oscar.

“It might be delayed when I start working at your company, but I’ll make time to handle the drone R&D project.”

“Don’t worry about work–focus on finding Oscar. You can start anytime.” Eowyn patted Zoya’s shoulder. “I hope you find

him soon.”

Zoya looked down. ‘I will find him. I definitely will,‘ she thought.

In Cloud Airlines‘ cafeteria, Jasmine looked at Nicolas. “She really agreed to give you the patent?”

“She can wait until they can be traded,” Jasmine said. “Trust me, if she really wants the divorce, she’ll agree.”

Nicolas thought it over. “All right. I’ll do that.” He was too proud to borrow money from others anyway.

After eating, Nicolas walked Jasmine to the flight duty office, where she was working that day.

As they reached the corridor, they ran into Zoya, who was coming out of a senior executive’s office. Their eyes met.

Zoya’s expression was indifferent as she prepared to walk past them, but Jasmine quickly stepped in front of her. “Zoya, what are you doing here?”

“Stop lying. You came to complain to my superiors, didn’t you?” Jasmine accused. “How petty can you be? Your marriage fell apart, but instead of looking at your own faults, you blame others.”

Nicolas frowned at Zoya. “Did you really come here to complain? If Jasmine faces unfair treatment at Cloud Airlines because of your actions, I won’t let it slide.”

Zoya stared at them coldly. “Who’d file a complaint over someone they don’t care about? Nicolas, you’re not that important

to me.”

Nicolas’s face flushed red, a mix of anger and embarrassment.

Zoya turned to Jasmine. “The reason Nicolas and I are divorcing is his fault. If he’d been loyal to our marriage and respected me, he wouldn’t have left me for you over and over.

“And even if it wasn’t you, it would’ve been someone else. So I don’t want this jerk–you can have him.”
