Nicolas even gave Jasmine the ruby necklace Zoya had entrusted him to acquire at the auction, a necklace her mother had once lost abroad.
If Jasmine hadn’t thrown the necklace to the ground and refused it, it would have likely been among the jewelry here.
“What’s wrong, Nicolas?” Jasmine’s voice sounded in his ear.
He suddenly came back to his senses, grabbed a ruby ring, and said, “This ring will do. I’ll pawn it for now, and when the company makes money, I’ll redeem it for you and buy you something even better.”
As he said this, his hand holding the ring was burning hot. The ring felt like a red–hot branding iron, searing his palm.
He didn’t keep his promise to give Zoya a better ring, yet he gave Jasmine numerous rings.
Even though Jasmine was his lifesaver, Zoya was his wife.
Zoya was his wife, who accompanied him through his toughest time and worked tirelessly to build their business.
But he had given Zoya far too little.
“It’s fine.” Although Jasmine was furious, she still feigned indifference. “As you know, I never valued these jewels.”
“Yes, you are the kind of woman who is strong and independent. These jewels are merely adornments to you,” Nicolas said.
But another figure couldn’t help but emerge in his mind, sitting in the cockpit, piloting a plane into the clouds and performing high–difficulty maneuvers.
Compared to Jasmine, for some reason, the image of Zoya piloting the plane left a deeper impression on his mind.
Jasmine said, “Don’t worry too much about the company’s matters. My mother’s family is a prominent family in our hometown.
“They are currently developing an island and require technology companies, especially those proficient in drones, to participate. You can try. I will help you.”
Nicolas’s eyes lit up.
Technology companies were clustered in Ranard City, and the competition was too intense.
Moving to a lower–tier city would significantly reduce competition, allowing them to capture the local market. It could be a unique approach.
“Jasmine, thank you!” Nicolas said gratefully, “You not only saved me back then but have also kept helping me.”
Jasmine smiled and said, “Between us, why be so formal? I just wish you well!”
She wanted to gain respect in the Ingram family. She wanted to prove that her branch of the Ingram family was more capable than others.
She wanted all those who once looked down on her to bow before her. So, she had to help Nicolas succeed.
Only then could she get everything she wanted.

The next day, at the City Hall, Zoya and Nicolas received their waiting number and sat in the waiting area.

“I’ll transfer 500 thousand dollars to you,” Nicolas said, “What is your bank account number?”

Zoya provided the account number, and Nicolas transferred the money. The 500 thousand dollars quickly reached Zoya’s
account.
As she looked at the mobile message notification confirming the 500 thousand dollars deposit, there was a hint of nostalgia in her eyes.
To her, this was not just money, but her parents‘ last act of love for her.
“I’m sorry,” Nicolas murmured, “I didn’t know you sacrificed so much. If I had known…”
She cut him off, “If you had known, would you have cut ties with Jasmine? Would you have stopped giving Jasmine so much expensive jewelry?
“Or would you have handled things impartially after your mother and sister did such outrageous things to me in the hotel room, sending them to prison to receive their due punishment?”
Nicolas was speechless.
Zoya scoffed, “So what’s the use of your apology? It’s just empty words. I don’t need such an apology at all!”
Eowyn was clearly still upset with Nicolas. “At least he kept his word for once.

“When you return from Marabotara, I’ll take you to a church and get your bad luck washed away. Marrying a man like that is truly the worst misfortune.”
Zoya smiled, her fingers gently tracing the national flag draped over the urn. “Let’s go to the airport!”
Today, she was taking her parents‘ ashes to Marabotara.
It was her parents‘ hometown.
Her mother was an orphan, adopted by the Lucero family from a young age. Later, she married her adoptive parents‘ son.
Zoya remembered her parents once saying that if they died, they wished to be buried in their hometown, returning to their
roots.
So she planned to bury her parents in the martyrs‘ cemetery in her hometown.
Eowyn accompanied Zoya to the airport.
“You can go back. I’ll board by myself,” Zoya said.
Eowyn said, “You still have some time before boarding. I’ll stay with you. Once you’re past the boarding gate, I’ll head back.
“You wouldn’t refuse to let me see your parents off, would you?”
“Alright,” Zoya said.
The two arrived at the airport, and as it wasn’t time to board yet. They waited in the departure lounge.
Zoya looked down at the urn in her arms. Soon, she could bring her parents home.
Just then, a voice suddenly rang out, “Zoya, what are you doing here?”
Zoya looked up, only to see Jasmine, wearing a co–pilot’s uniform, appear before her.
