Zoya was speechless. The doctor had clearly made a mistake. She said, “He is not my husband.”

She quickly explained. She felt that this was not something to joke about.

“Then he must be your boyfriend, the doctor said to Wren, “Do not just stand there. Your girlfriend is injured and cannot take off her shoes. Help her.”

Today, Zoya was wearing lace–up sneakers. The laces were tied tightly, so she had to untie them first.

“Doctor, he’s not my…” Before she could finish speaking, Wren suddenly squatted down and lifted Zoya’s right foot.

“The doctor is right. You are injured and cannot take off your shoes,” he said, his slender fingers untying the shoelaces.

Zoya stared, dumbfounded, as Wren took off her right shoe, then her left.

She thought, “The powerful leader of the Richmond family is now helping take off my shoes?”

She felt like she had been struck by lightning,

Before she could fully regain her senses, Wren had already picked her up in his arms.

“Hey, what are you doing?” she asked nervously.

He asked, “Are you planning to walk on the ground in just your socks?”

Compared to her shocked expression, his remained calm, as if he had only done something insignificant..

He walked to the examination bed and carefully set her down.

The doctor drew the curtain around the bed, then asked Wren to wait outside.

The doctor began examining Zoya’s injuries, while Wren, on the other side of the curtain, looked down at his hands.

He hadn’t expected to impulsively squat down and take off Zoya’s shoes.

Once, in his vague, fragmented childhood memories, he had only taken off and put on shoes for one person.

But he didn’t know who that was.

Just now, he had naturally taken off her shoes.

Wren thought, “Was it because I was interested in her that I did this?‘

After examining Zoya’s injuries, the doctor said, “It’s nothing serious. Although there are many bruises, your bones are fine.

“You seem to have a strong constitution, so you’ll recover quickly. I’ll prescribe some medicine for you.”

“Thank you, Doctor,” Zoya said.

After getting the medicine and leaving the hospital, they returned to the car. Zoya’s gaze kept falling unconsciously on

Wren’s hands.

His hands were exceptionally beautiful and exuded a sense of strength. Zoya was impressed by them.

Seeing these hands, she couldn’t help but think of elegant art, and also violence.

However, just now, he was using those hands to take off her shoes.

Later, he even helped her put on her shoes and tie the laces.

“It seems you really like my hands. You’ve been staring at them the whole time.” Wren’s voice suddenly broke the silence in the car.

Zoya gave an awkward cough and averted her gaze. “Well, Mr. Richmond, thank you for helping me take off my shoes and tie the laces just now.”

“You should thank me,” he said, “I don’t usually do this for people.”

She was speechless, and silence immediately fell in the car.

“So, have you thought about how you’ll thank me?” Wren asked a moment later.

Zoya blinked and thought, ‘Didn’t I just thank him?‘

Wren’s gaze swept over her, “Are you just saying it, and don’t really mean to thank me?”

Zoya pursed her somewhat dry lips. “Then how about I take off your shoes and tie your laces too?”

“That’s not necessary, but I hope Ms. Lucero and I don’t have to address each other so formally. It seems too cold,” he said.

Zoya looked at Wren and thought, ‘The problem is, I don’t want to get familiar with him at all!

I asked, “Then, should I call you Mr. Richmond?”

After getting out of the car, Wren said to Zova. “This is the Richmond family’s villa in Marabotara. If I come to Marabotara.

However, she was never curious about things she shouldn’t be.

So she readily said, “Okay, I understand. Is there anything else I need to know?”

“No, that’s all. Go unpack your luggage first. If you need anything, you can tell the butler,” he said.

Zoya nodded, carrying the urn in her arms and dragging her luggage into the room.

This was a very luxurious bedroom.

However, this luxury felt like a nostalgic style from many years ago. The furniture, curtains, carpets, and everything else inside all had a romantic style.

Zoya felt a bit overwhelmed. This was definitely not her preferred style.

She preferred a minimalist style.

However, she was only temporarily staying there, so she couldn’t be picky.

This room was right next to Wren’s bedroom, which was indeed convenient for her to protect him.

She placed the urn on the nearby cabinet, then took out her phone and made a call to someone from the Lucero family’s

memorial hall.

She had previously contacted them to confirm the time for the ashes to be placed in the memorial hall and for the memorial tablet to be set up.

This call was merely to double–check.

The ashes would be kept in the memorial hall for three days with the memorial tablet set up, before being moved to the local Martyrs‘ Cemetery in Marabotara.

Soon, someone answered the call.

“I am Zoya Lucero, the descendent of Abbott Lucero. I contacted you before. I have now returned to Marabotara.

“Tomorrow, I would like to bring my parents‘ ashes to the Lucero family Memorial Hall…”

According to the family rules, the ashes were to be placed in the memorial hall for three days before burial.

“Okay, Zoya, right? We will wait for you tomorrow,” the person on the other end of the line said.

After the call ended, Daphne, who was walking with Hubert Lucero, suddenly asked, “Hubert, who was the person you just spoke with on the phone?”
