The Lucero family’s memorial hall was located in the downtown of Marabotara, a place already bustling with people.
The dispute had already drawn the attention of many passersby to the unusual situation here.
As Zoya shouted, many passersby stopped in their tracks and looked in this direction.
Daphne said to the security guards, “Quickly pull her aside and stop her from shouting at the entrance. Do you want my great–grandfather to witness this kind of farce?”
“Yes!” the security guards quickly responded, and rushed towards Zoya.

At this moment, Wren was with the senior management of Lucero Group, as well as the two vice presidents, Laurence Lucero and Shaun Lucero, coming out of the Lucero Group building together.
Lucero Group was a family business. Therefore, most of the senior executives in the group were members of the Lucero family.
“Wren, why didn’t you let us know in advance about your visit to Marabotara? We could have held a welcoming party for you,” Laurence said.
The Lucero family once flourished in Marabotara, but in recent years, they had begun to decline.
Fortunately, due to Daphne, the Lucero family had managed to establish a connection with the Richmond family.
Over the years, Laurence successfully completed several projects by relying on the Richmond family.
Hence, Laurence’s words to Wren naturally contained a hint of flattery and ingratiation.
Shaun, who was standing by, added, “How about we hold a welcoming dinner today? We can also invite Daphne.
“She often talks about you. When you are childhood sweethearts, after all.”
Shaun was Daphne’s father. He rose from being an unfavored member within the Lucero family to the current Vice President of the Lucero Group, largely due to Daphne’s connection with Wren.
He naturally wanted his daughter to marry Wren.
If Daphne were to truly become Wren’s wife, then in the future, his standing in the Lucero family would likely be unsurpassed by anyone, except for his father, Waldo Lucero,
Unfortunately, Wren showed little interest in their proposals.
Instead, he suddenly remarked, “The Lucero family Memorial Hall is right nearby, isn’t it? Why don’t we go take a look?”
“To the memorial hall?” The Lucero family members were all taken aback.
“Am I not allowed to go?” Wren countered.
“Of course not. You are welcome to visit anytime!” Laurence quickly replied, “My father is at the memorial hall today. You
can meet him.”
Though they didn’t understand why Wren was suddenly interested in the Lucero family Memorial Hall, they welcomed his visit since he wanted to go.

They had only just vaguely spotted the memorial hall when they saw a crowd had already gathered at its entrance, as if there was some commotion.
The Lucero family members exchanged glances, unable to understand what exactly had happened.
“Well, perhaps something happened at the memorial hall, I’ll go over and check…” Before Laurence could finish speaking, Wren had already strode directly towards the crowd.
Seeing this, the Lucero family members quickly followed him.
Wren’s steps were hurried. even he couldn’t explain the anxiety and unease he felt.
He thought, ‘Today is the day Zoya brings the ashes back to the Lucero family Memorial Hall.
‘Did something happen to her? Or..!
Suddenly, Wren stopped in his tracks as a figure appeared in his sight.
With a straight back, Zoya firmly held the sandalwood urn in her hands, while a national flag covered the urn.
Her heroic and elegant face was now stern, and many people lay haphazardly around her

The police walked up to Zoya, just about to speak, but upon seeing the urn she held, with a national flag draped over it, their expressions suddenly changed.
He said, “This is…”
“These are my parents‘ ashes. I am here today only to have their ashes placed in the memorial hall and their memorial tablets set up!” Zoya said.
After a moment of silence, the police officers asked, “May I ask, how did your father and mother pass away?”
“They were killed in action while serving in the Horizon Watch Regiment on a mission abroad,” Zoya replied.
The police officers were taken aback, then they all stood straight and saluted the urn in front of Zoya.
Shaun and Daphne were dumbfounded.
They were still counting on the police to handle Zoya, but things took a surprising turn.
Shaun said, “What are you doing? Aren’t you going to take her away?”
The Lucero family was influential in Marabotara, so the police advised Zoya, “No matter what, leave this place now. Any misunderstandings or conflicts can be resolved later.”
“No. I’ll just resolve it right now!” Zoya said, then she turned to face the memorial hall, holding the urn in her outstretched hands.
She loudly declared, “I am Zoya Lucero, descendent of Abbott Lucero. Today, I bring my parents‘ ashes to the memorial hall.
“In a time of national chaos, my ancestor, Abbott, along with his brothers, joined the battlefield and fought for the country. Ultimately, only one returned.
“My grandfather, Alexis Lucero, once protected the memorial hall.
“He wasn’t assigned there, yet he stood guard in front of it, suffered 13 stab wounds, and did not retreat a single step, even though he was soaked in blood.
“My deceased father, Felix, and my deceased mother, Celina, joined the army when they were young.
“They served in the military for 30 years, sacrificed themselves for the country, and are martyrs.
“I earnestly implore the Lucero family to open the doors, to allow my deceased father’s and mother’s ashes to have a place in the Lucero family Memorial Hall!”
The powerful and
resounding voice, like a clap of thunder, reverberated in front of the memorial hall.
