Kylo
~~
After much anticipation, the day of the orientation finally arrived. He woke up in his room, stretching with a yawn. He looked to the other side of the bed but frowned when he didn’t see Cullen there.
Where could that troublemaker be so early in the morning?
"Good morning, sleepy head." As if to answer his internal question, Cullen’s voice came from the window. He swerved his head in his direction, sighing when he saw him eyeing him with his usual seductive smile.
His eyes traced down Cullen’s shirtless body, lingering longer than he would’ve wanted. But he eventually shook his head, cursing himself. He’d done it again.
Ignoring his greeting, Kylo got up and headed to the bathroom. Once he reached there, he washed his face with some water, before looking into the mirror.
A lot had happened in such a short amount of time. There’d been so much change going on in his life all at once. And it seemed like the catalyst of it all was that fateful attack on the Vientiane restaurant. It was after the attack that Isleen, his girlfriend, now ex-girlfriend, took in Liam. Who turned out to be an ancient shape-shifting vampire.
It was also after the attack that she’d met his father. And now, he felt like there was something off about the two of them. His suspicions on that note increased on the day his father came home and Isleen said she saw him. She’d looked so flustered and like she was trying to hide something and it was then he realized something was wrong. He just didn’t know what...
"Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed!" Cullen’s annoying voice snapped him out of his thoughts, bringing him back to reality.
Oh, right, another thing. If it weren’t for the fact that he wanted to keep a close eye on Isleen and see how she was coping after the breakup, he would’ve never met Cullen and struck a deal for him to spy on her, promising him sex in exchange. Yes, he knew he had a suppressed attraction towards men. But he’d always ignored it since he also liked women.
Now that he didn’t need Cullen to watch her anymore, he had cut off the deal of them having sex. And ever since, the dude wouldn’t just take the hint and stop chasing after him.
The fact that he slept in the same room with him made things worse. Even last night, he’d tried making a move on Kylo, who rejected him as usual, this time threatening to have his dad throw him out of the house.
Truth was, he still had feelings for Isleen. He’d only broken up with her to protect her from further criticism and prejudice from the pack. But it seemed she was already moving on and he honestly didn’t know how to feel about that. He wanted her to be happy, but he also secretly wanted her to be his again.
"Come on, Kylo, lighten up. It wouldn’t kill you if you smiled more." Cullen suddenly appeared behind him, staring into the mirror with a wide grin on his face.
Kylo creased his brows, finally snapping at the annoying Cullen. "Have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe... You’re the reason why I don’t smile?"
He was stressing out as it was about the orientation and beginning of life in the training camp. He didn’t need Cullen’s yapping this morning to add to his frustration.
Cullen clutched his chest dramatically, looking distraught. "Uhh, rude. If you aren’t smiling because of me, then that’s on you. I mean, what’s here not to like?" He grinned at the last part, spreading his arms and turning around as if he were a trophy that deserved showcasing.
Kylo used that as an opportunity, walking to him and shoving him out of the bathroom. Before he could retaliate and force his way back in, he closed the door behind him.
Phew! He could finally freshen up in peace.
Shrugging, Kylo dressed up and was set to go. Not waiting for Cullen to be done, he rushed out of his room, walking downstairs until he smelt a heavenly aroma coming from the kitchen.
