Chapter 20

Alpha Ethan POV

The ride back to the pack house was quiet. My mind was filled with so many questions, so I pulled out the music player and turned on some music to get my mind off things.

It didn’t help.

Not long after, I pulled up to the gates of the pack house. The guards ran forward, quickly opening them for me. I drove in without a glance, not bothering to respond to the greetings of the servants as I made my way inside. I wasn’t in the mood for small talk–not when my head felt like it was spinning

I walked straight through the grand hallway, my footsteps echoing off the marble floors. The place was quiet, too quiet. My wolf was restless, and I could feel it pacing beneath my skin.

All I wanted was to see Olivia–my mate.

I pushed the door to my room open, half expecting her to be there waiting for me. But the room was empty.

“Olivia?” I called softly, my eyes scanning the space.

No response.

My chest tightened. Where could she be?

Just as I was about to turn and leave to go look for her, a faint sound caught my attention–the sound of rushing water. My eyes narrowed, and I turned toward the bathroom door, slightly ajar. Steam slipped out from the crack.

I stepped forward and pushed the door open.

There she was.

Standing under the warm spray of water, her back turned to me, golden strands of her hair clinging to her skin. My breath caught in my throat at the sight of her–goddess, she was beautiful.

She gasped when she realized I was there. “Ethan! Get out–I’m showering!”

I didn’t move. I couldn’t.

“I just wanted to see you,” I said, my voice husky, rougher than Vintended. “I missed you.”

She turned slightly, arms crossed over her chest. “You should have knocked.”

I took a step closer, slowly, carefully. “I should have. But Olivia, I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”

Her eyes softened slightly, even though her posture stayed guarded.

“I’ll leave if you want me to,” I said quietly, but even knew I didn’t want to.

She hesitated… and then sighed. “You’re already here.”

I didn’t need more permission than that.

I stepped into the shower with her, fully clothed at first. She rolled her eyes, muttering something under her breath, but she didn’t stop me. Instead, her hands found their way to my shirt, pulling it over my head. The water cascaded down both of us, washing away the tension, the doubts, the distance.

We didn’t speak much after that. We didn’t need to.

Chapter 20

I lifted her up from the floor, carrying her in my arms as we exited the bathroom. Even though I couldn’t feel it the way I had expected, I still moved an i laid her gently on the bed as I stared into her eyes.

“What are we celebrating, Ethan?” she asked me as she pulled me down onto her body.

“Nothing,” I replied. “I just wanted to make you happy. I want to see that sweet girl the Moon Goddess mated me with,” I replied, and I could see her facial expression change, but I couldn’t quite place it. Without responding, she held me closer as she sealed her lips with mine. I held her by the chin as I took dominance, kissing her passionately. I could hear her moan in between the kiss, but for some reason, it felt off to me.

What the fuck is wrong with me?

I couldn’t feel her wolf either–it was as if it were distant. But I didn’t break the kiss. Maybe it was because we hadn’t been intimate for a very long time.

I pulled the towel off her body, leaving her totally naked. I took a moment to look at her body. Her breasts were still firm and captivating, but not like Raven’s, my wolf muttered to me. I ignored him and proceeded, taking her already–erected nipple into my mouth, sucking on it as if the answer to my questions were there. Her loud moans filled the room. I could tell she was enjoying every bit of it.

“What’s wrong?” I asked her, surprised by her actions.

“Now tell me, what did you do to my wolf? Which witch did you visit to make my wolf turn against my mate and long for you?” I asked her, my voice harsher than intended, but I didn’t care.

I stared down at her, but she wasn’t replying.

“Answer me!” I yelled at her, tightening my grip on her.

“Oh, you don’t want to talk, right? I’m giving you three days to undo whatever you did to my wolf, or you will be suited for the use of witchcraft,” I told her
