Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 218

Chapter 218

Reven’s Pov

I woke up to voices around me, sharp and heavy like an argument.

Vouchers!

At first, I thought I was still dreaming, but the more I listened, the clearer it became. It was Derick’s voice.

Even though my head still felt heavy, I could tell he was angry. He was shouting, his words rushed and broken, but I couldn’t catch every sentence. My cars buzzed, and my chest tightened with fear.

Slowly, I blinked my eyes open. The bright light above the bed blinded me, and I had to squint until my sight adjusted.

My eyes darted across the room.

No one was there.

My heart skipped. There were no doctors, no nurses, no Derrick, and no babies. The silence in the room was terrifying, even though I could still hear Derick’s voice coming faintly through the door.

I turned my head frantically, searching every corner. But there was nothing. No cart, no cradle, no sign of my children.

The bed beside mine was empty; the space where I thought my babies would be was bare.

Panic rushed through me like ice water. My chest rose and fell too fast, and my throat tightened. Where are they?

Ignoring the weakness in my body, I forced myself to sit up. The strings and tubes attached to my hands and arms tugged painfully, but I didn’t care. One by one, I yanked them out.

My skin stung where the tape ripped away, but the fear inside me was stronger.

I swung my legs off the bed, and for a moment, the room spun. My feet trembled as they touched the cold floor, and I clutched the side of the bed for balance.

My knees threatened to give way, but I whispered to myself, I have to see them. I have to.

Step by shaky step, I made my way to the door. My hand gripped the handle, and I pushed it open with all the strength I had left.

The voices grew louder immediately.

Just a few steps away, in the hallway, I saw Derick. His back was tense, his fists clenched at his sides, and he was towering over a doctor.

His voice was rough, filled with anger I had rarely heard from him.

You had no right to move them without telling me! They should be here with their mother!

The doctor, a woman in a white coat, tried to remain calm, but her voice wavered. They were weak, Derick. The boy needed oxygen, and the girl needed monitoring. We couldn’t risk-

Don’t give me excuses!he snapped, his voice echoing in the corridor. They are my children. You should have told me first!

I froze at the doorway, my heart racing. My hands shook against the wooden frame. The boy needed oxygen? The girl needed monitoring? The words made my stomach twist.

I swallowed hard and finally forced my voice out. Derick

The moment he heard me, his head whipped around. His eyes widened in shock, then softened instantly as he saw me standing there.

Raven!

He forgot the doctor and ran toward me. Before my legs could fail, he was already at my side, his strong arms wrapping around me. I sank into his chest, breathing in his familiar scent, trembling against him.

His hand stroked my cheek gently. You shouldn’t be out of bed. You’re too weak.”

I ignored his concern, my voice sharp with panic. Where are the kids? Where are they, Derick?

He hesitated. His lips parted, but no words came out at first. His eyes darted away, and that alone made fear stab my heart deeper.

Tell me!I demanded, my hands clutching his shirt. Where are they?

They’re safe,he said quickly, almost too quickly. They’re in the kidsward. Butyou’re not strong enough to go there now.

Tears welled in my eyes. I am strong enough,I whispered fiercely. I need to see my kids. Please, Derick. Take me to them.

He let out a long sigh, his shoulders slumping. For the first time, I saw his mask of strength crack. His eyes glistened, his jaw trembling slightly. He turned his head away as if to hide it, but I caught the moment the way he was holding back tears.

He brushed his hand across his face quickly, then nodded. Alright,he whispered hoarsely. If that’s what you wantcome with me.

He slipped an arm around me, steadying me as we began to walk down the hallway together. My legs were weak, but his presence was solid, every step guided by his strength.

The fluorescent lights above flickered slightly, and the smell of antiseptic filled the air.

We walked in silence for a while, except for the distant sound of machines beeping and nursesfootsteps echoing against the tiled floor. My heart pounded with every step.

What if something happens to them?I whispered suddenly, my voice breaking.

Derick’s arm tightened around me. Nothing will happen to them,he said firmly. They’re strong, Raven, Just like you.

I leaned into him, letting his words be my anchor. But inside, the fear still clawed at me.

After what felt like forever, we stopped in front of a white door with KIDS WARDwritten in bold letters. My breath caught in my throat. My palms turned sweaty.

Derick opened the door and guided me inside.

The room was filled with soft light and the gentle hum of machines. Along the walls were small, clear carts, each holding tiny, fragile babies. The air smelled faintly sweet, mixed with disinfectant. Nurses moved quietly from cart to cart, checking on the little ones.

Derick led me toward the corner, where two carts stood side by side. My eyes landed on them, and my breath hitched.

There they were.

One was a boy, the other a girl. Their faces were so small, their skin soft and pink, their little chests rising and falling with each breath. They looked so perfect, so pure, like a dream made real.

My knees almost gave out, but I forced myself forward, my hand reaching for them. My fingers trembled as they brushed over their tiny hands.

The moment I touched them, my tears broke free. They slipped down my cheeks, warm and unstoppable.

They’rebeautiful,” I whispered, my voice shaking.

Derick stood behind me, his hand resting gently on my shoulder. Yes,” he said softly, his voice thick. They’re perfect. Just like their mother.

I couldn’t take my eyes off them. I traced every line of their little faces, memorizing them, holding on as if I might lose them if I looked away.

I won’t let go,” I whispered fiercely, my tears falling onto their tiny fingers. No matter what, I won’t let go of you.

The words were a vow, etched into my heart.
