Chapter 246

Reven’s POV

I smiled to myself as I made my way back to the dining room. I finally had the evidence that would bring her down once and for all.

My heart was beating with mixed feelings of anger, relief, and the tiniest bit of fear. I wanted to see the look on her face when I exposed everything she had done.

For days, I had been accused, questioned, and silently judged, and tonight, I was finally going to prove them all wrong.

But just before I reached the door, I heard voices coming from inside the dining room.

My steps froze immediately. The tone was tense, sharp Derek’s voice and his mother’s.

I stayed hidden behind the door, pressing my back against the wall and listening closely.

“I will never let my son marry a cheat,” she said coldly, her words slicing through the air like a knife. “You can’t marry that girl, Derek. She’s a disgrace.”

My breath hitched. My heart began to race faster. A cheat?

“Mom, please,” Derek’s voice sounded tired, but hurt. “You’ve got it wrong. This whole thing with the flowers is just a misunderstanding. I trust her. Raven would never cheat on me.”

My chest tightened as I heard him say that. For a brief moment, I felt warmth spread inside me. He trusted me, at least that’s what I wanted to believe.

But then came her reply, laced with venom.

“She can’t cheat on you?” she scoffed. “She already did worse! How can you trust a woman who has two children for a man she doesn’t even know? You call that love, Derek? That’s desperation.”

My knees felt weak. My heart sank deeper than I thought possible. So, she knew about my past. She had used it against me. I swallowed hard and tried to steady my breathing.

Just then, I heard footsteps, and the next thing I knew, Derek’s mother’s voice stopped abruptly. She had seen

The moment our eyes met, her face froze in shock. She didn’t expect me to be there. I stepped into the room slowly, my face expressionless, but inside, everything in me was trembling.

Derek turned to look at me. He was holding a flower in his hand, the same type of flower that had been arriving every day for the past week. My stomach twisted painfully.

“So,” I said quietly, trying to keep my voice from shaking, “would someone care to explain what the hell is going on here?”

His mother let out a scoff and turned to him. “Oh, please, Derek. Tell her to drop the act. She knows exactly what’s going on.

What kind of woman goes out to meet a strange man while she’s supposed to be taking care of her son?”

I blinked, stunned for a second, before letting out a small, bitter laugh. “You’ve got to be kidding me”

Derek’s jaw tightened. I could see the anger in his eyes, though he was trying hard to hold himself together “Reven,” he said, his voice deep and strained, “do you expect me to just ignore all this? Why wouldn’t I believe what I’m seeing? The same flowers have been coming to you every day for the past week, and you’ve said nothing about it.”

I took a step closer, looking straight into his eyes. “So you think I’m cheating on you?”

He didn’t reply. The silence between us said enough.

“I’m highly disappointed in you,” he said finally, his voice breaking slightly. “I never thought you’d go back to your old ways.”

My brows furrowed in confusion. “Old ways?” I repeated, my tone rising. “What old ways, Derek? Please, enlighten me.”

He looked away for a moment before facing me again. “I thought my love would be enough to change you. But I guess I was wrong. What did I expect from someone who already had two kids with a man she can’t even identify?”

That did it. I could feel the fire in my chest explode. I clenched my fists tightly, trying not to break down in front of them. “So that’s what you think of me?” I asked, my voice trembling with fury.

He sighed, his face filled with pain. “I don’t know what to think anymore. Maybe my mom was right. Maybe you are nothing but,” he hesitated, as if saying it would hurt him too, “a whore.”

For a second, the world stopped. I stared at him, disbelief washing over me like a tidal wave.

“Is that what you really think of me, Derek?” I whispered, fighting back tears.

He didn’t meet my gaze. “I can’t do this anymore,” he said softly. “I thought you’d changed. I took you in when you had nothing, when you were homeless. I clothed you, accepted your children, and loved you. And this is how you repay me?”

His mother smirked slightly, stepping closer to him. “Let her go, Derek,” she said smoothly. “You’ll find someone better. Someone with a good past and proper character.”

That was the last straw. My anger snapped.

“Between the two of us,” I said coldly, “who exactly has the bad character?”

“Raven!” Derek snapped, his tone sharp. “Don’t talk to my mother like that.”

I laughed dryly, shaking my head. “Oh, so now I can’t even defend myself?”

Before he could say another word, I raised my hand sharply to silence him. “Enough.”

Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out my phone. My hands trembled slightly, not from fear but from the sheer intensity of emotion rushing through me. “You want to know who’s been sending those flowers?” I asked quietly. “Fine. Let’s find out together.”

I tapped on the screen and played the footage I had retrieved from the security room earlier. The room fell silent.

The video showed exactly what I expected: the delivery man receiving payment and instructions directly from Derek’s mother. Her voice was clear, cold, and unmistakable.

I turned the phone toward Derek so he could see everything. I watched as his eyes widened in shock. His mother’s face went pale. She tried to speak, but no words came out.

“Now you see,” I said, my voice shaking with both rage and heartbreak, “the woman you call a mother can go to any length just to destroy me to frame me. And you,” I pointed at Derek, tears finally rolling down my cheeks, “you were so quick to believe her.”

He looked broken. “Reven, I”

“Save it,” I cut him off sharply. “I’m done, Derek. I’m done trying to prove my worth to someone who doesn’t see it. I’m done letting your mother treat me like trash. And I’m done fighting for a man who can’t even fight for me.”

I turned around and started walking toward the door. My legs felt heavy, but I forced myself to keep moving.

“Raven, wait!” Derek’s voice called behind me, desperate, regretful.

But I didn’t stop. I didn’t even look back.

The last thing I heard as I walked out of the room was the sound of his mother gasping and Derek shouting my name.

Tears blurred my vision, but I didn’t care. The night air hit my face as I stepped outside, and for the first time in a long while, I felt free and completely broken.

I had lost the man I loved, but at least now, the truth was out.
