Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 271

Chapter 271

Reven’s Pov

I brought out a loose black dress and slipped it on. It was soft against my skin and comfortable enough for the night.

I tied my hair into a messy bun and added a bit of lip gloss. Nothing fancy, just enough to make me look presentable.

I checked myself one last time in the mirror, breathing slowly. My heart was pounding already, even though I hadn’t stepped out of the room yet.

I picked up my small black bag and slid a pocketknife inside. I didn’t plan to use it, but having it made me feel safe.

I went to look at my sleeping kids. Both of them were cuddled together under the blanket, their small breaths steady and peaceful.

day. They were the reason I stayed strong, the reason I couldn’t afford to fall apart.

Iquy

walked to Derick’s room. His door was half open, and I could see him sleeping, the dim light from the corridor falling softly on his face. For a moment, guilt tugged at me.

He had done so much for me and the kids, and here I was sneaking out to meet a man who once destroyed

    1. me.

But I needed to do this for closure, for peace, and maybe to make sure he never came near us again.

I stepped out of the pack house, careful not to draw any attention.

Two guards were posted at the gate, but they were too busy chatting to notice me.

I slipped through the shadows, my heart racing as I finally passed the gate.

Once I was outside, I let out a long sigh of relief. The cold air brushed against my face, and for the first time that night, I could breathe properly.

I started walking down the quiet street.

The restaurant wasn’t far, just a few blocks away, so I didn’t need a taxi.

The road was dimly lit, and the soft glow of streetlights guided my steps.

Halfway there, I had a strange feeling that someone was following me.

My wolf stirred uneasily inside me. I stopped walking and looked around. The night was silent except for the sound of crickets. The street behind me was empty.

No one was there. Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me. I had been through too much to trust my

own feelings sometimes.

I shook off the thought and kept walking until the restaurant came into view. The signboard flickered faintly in the dark, and the smell of grilled meat filled the air.

I could already sense him before I even saw him. His scent hit me like a wave that familiar mixture of wood smoke, power, and something darker that had haunted my dreams for years.

Alpha Ethan.

There was no need to check for a table number. I followed his scent, every step making my heart beat faster.

When I finally reached the table, I stopped and stared.

He was sitting there, looking almost too casual in a light gray shirt that hugged his chest perfectly, showing off every line of muscle beneath.

His sleeves were rolled up, his veins showing faintly on his forearms as he held a glass of water.

He wore fitted jeans, and his dark hair was messy, like he had run his fingers through it one too many times. Even in th elchair he looked annoyingly handsome.

it second, my thoughts betrayed me. I imagined him beneath me, the warmth of his body pressed mine, the sound of his deep voice whispering my name.

I shook my head quickly, mentally cursing myself. What the hell was I thinking?

His voice snapped me back to reality.

Raven,” he said softly, you can sit down.

I clenched my fists to steady myself. I don’t have time for pleasantries, Alpha Ethan. Just say what you have to say.

He didn’t look offended. He just gave a small nod, then turned to the waiter. What would you like to eat?

I don’t need anything,” I said sharply. Do I look hungry to you?

He ignored my tone completely. Bring her rice and chicken sauce,he told the waiter. And the same for me.”

When the waiter left, I crossed my arms and glared at him. How do you even know I like that?

He smiled faintly, the kind of smile that used to melt me long ago. Because you’re still in my heart, Raven Some things don’t change.”

I scoffed. You really think saying sweet things will fix what you broke?

He sighed and cleared his throat. I know this apology is late, but I have to say it. I’m sorry for everything I did to you in the past.”

I cut him off by raising my hand. That’s all in the past, Ethan. Say why you called me here, or I’ll leave.

He looked down for a moment, then nodded slowly. It’s because of you and the kids.”

That made me pause. And what about us?

I know I don’t deserve any of you,he said quietly, his eyes softening. But all I’m asking for is a second chance. I just want to be part of their lives. I won’t ask for more.

I laughed out loud, shaking my head. You must be joking. There’s no way in this world that I or my kids will have anything to do with a monster like you.”

He looked hurt but didn’t lash out. I’m not that man anymore, Raven. I’ve changed.”

Good,I said with a small, bitter smile. Because I’m not that naive Reven you used to know either. Even if things ever go bad between me and Derick, I’d never get back with you. Not as your woman, not even as your

mate.

The waiter returned with our food, cutting me off. He placed the plates on the table and left quickly. I started eating silently, pretending to ignore Ethan’s eyes on me.

He spoke after a while. You don’t have to decide now. Justthink about what I said.”

There’s no

to think about,” I replied, my voice calm but cold.

er in the sauce suddenly burned my throat, and I began coughing hard. Ethan immediately pushed elchair toward me as he reached for me, handing me his glass of water.

As our hands touched, a jolt ran through me that familiar spark I had tried so hard to forget. My wolf stirred painfully inside me, whispering his name.

For a moment, our eyes locked. The restaurant around us disappeared. It was just him and me again, the same pull that had once bound us as mates.

I quickly pulled my hand away, my face burning. Sorry,” I muttered before drinking the water.
