Chapter 281

Reven’s POV

I followed Alpha Ethan out of my room slowly, my steps dragging on the floor as if my legs didn’t want to

move.

I paused at the door and stared at my small space one last time. The walls still carried the shadows of my tearsmy lonelinessthe fear I hid every night. It wasn’t the best place, but it was familiar. It was mine.

A part of me wished I could stay there a little longer, maybe just one more night, but I knew that time was gone. Everything had changed too quickly. Before my heart could prepare, life forced me forward.

I inhaled deeply, closed the door, and walked toward the exit.

I was only a few steps from the front door when I heard someone call my name sharply.

Reven!

I froze. My hands tightened around my bag. I didn’t want to turn around because I already knew who it was. But I forced myself to slowly turn and face her.

Derick’s mother.

She stood there with her expensive wrapper tied neatly around her waist, her head raised high like a queen who owned the whole world. Her eyes were cold, proud, and sharp enough to cut someone in half.

I swallowed hard. Yes, ma’am?She walked closer, her arms folded across her chest.

I am very glad you are leaving,” she said clearly, her voice full of judgment. You have brought nothing but disgrace and confusion into this pack. You should have left long ago.”

I didn’t answer. Anything I said would only make things worse.

She continued, her mouth tight with anger. I don’t want to ever see you near this pack again. Whatever happened between you and my son ends today. Do you understand?

My heart squeezed painfully, but I stayed quiet.

Derick’s mother stepped even closer, her voice lowering into a firm, angry whisper. You were never right for him. Never. And now look how much damage you have caused.

I finally lifted my eyes to meet hers. I did not plan for any of this to happen, ma.”

She scoffed loudly. Of course you didn’t. You never plan anything. You just bring chaos everywhere you go.”

My throat tightened. My fingers trembled slightly by my side. I wanted to walk away. I wanted to escape her sharp tongue, but she wasn’t finished.

As for Derickshe lifted her chin higher, he will move on. He will find someone better. Someone fitting.

Someone who deserves him.

I felt the words like a slap.

She waited, expecting me to cry or beg or defend myself. But I didn’t do any of that. Instead, I took a deep breath and said quietly but clearly,When everything is overI will come back.

Her eyes widened slightly in surprise. She wasn’t expecting that from me at all.

I continued, I will come back for him. I don’t know howand I don’t know whenbut I will come back.

Derick’s mom frowned harshly. Come back for what? Haven’t you done enough? Haven’t you destroyed enough?

But I shook my head. Her lips tightened, anger flashing in her eyes. Over my dead body.

I didn’t reply.

I simply bowed my head slightly, adjusted my grip on my bag, and walked away from her.

My heart was beating painfully. My chest felt heavy, but something inside me refused to break. If I didn’t speak those words, she would have walked all over me. At least now she knew I wasn’t finished. At least now she knew that I had a voice too.

I stepped outside.

Alpha Ethan and the kids were already in the car. I walked toward them, feeling exhausted and drained. I opened the back door and sat as far away from Ethan as possible. I could feel his eyes on me, but I ignored him.

The car pulled out of the pack house gates.

As we drove away, I turned back to look at the building one last time. Memories hit me all at once Derick’s smile, the picnic we had when I was pregnant, and even the one we had when the kids where born.

My eyes burned, but I blinked the tears away.

Just stop this already. Reven Derick is out of your life, as best as I know, my wolf said, her voice low but annoying. You can say whatever you want, but I am not accepting this beast as my mate, not again. She wanted any say something, but I shouted at her as she leapt quite

We drove in silence for a while until Alpha Ethan finally spoke.

I have something to tell you.

I didn’t respond. I didn’t even shift in my seat. I just stared out of the window, watching the trees blur into green shadows.

He continued anyway. RevenI have a fiveyearold daughter.

The words hit me like cold water pouring over my head.

I turned to him sharply. What?!

I have a daughter,he repeated calmly.

You have a child? My voice rose. You have a daughter, and you didn’t think it was important to tell me? And you still came to take my kids why?! Why didn’t you stay with the family you already have?!

You made me and the kids get separated from the one we loved. You don’t have a heart at all

He looked at me without emotion. You still behave like the stubborn Reven I know.

And you,I shot back, are still the monster you used to be!

Silence filled the car.

Thick, Heavy. Angry.

The kids, luckily, were too excited about the trip to pay attention.

About an hour later, we arrived at the private airport. The place was quiet, clean, and strangely peaceful. Expensive jets were lined up around us, shining under the sun.

The kids jumped out first, laughing and pointing at everything they saw. Their joy made my heart ache. They didn’t know what was happening. They didn’t understand anything.

Mommy, can we sit by the window?they asked.

Before I could speak, Ethan answered. Yes, you can.”

I glared at him. Stop pretending you care about them.”

He moved closer, lowering his voice. You can think whatever you want. But I care.”

I scoffed and held my kidshands, walking them into the jet. I helped them with their seat belts, then sat behind them. Ethan boarded last.

Minutes later, the jet took off. The sound hummed in my ears as the ground disappeared beneath us.
