**TITLE: No More 295**
**Chapter 295**
**Reven’s POV**
As I stood there, my gaze fixed on the doorway, she strolled into the room with an air of confidence that suggested she owned every square inch of the space. It was as if the very walls bowed to her presence.
Fifty-six vouchers.
Alpha Ethan remained silent, his expression inscrutable. A storm brewed within me, torn between fury and fear. My heart thudded violently against my ribcage, each beat echoing in my throat, while my wolf growled low and restless, sensing the tension in the air.
Her eyes flicked over me, pausing just a heartbeat too long, a smirk playing on her lips that I found infuriating.
That smirk ignited a fire within me. I wanted nothing more than to wipe it off her face with my own hands. As she stepped closer, her voice dripped with a dangerously sweet tone, “Who are you?”
A laugh escaped my lips, cold and sharp, surprising even myself. My chest heaved as I finally found my voice, trembling with a rage I didn’t attempt to conceal.
“I am Alpha Ethan’s wife and the mother of his children,” I declared, the words feeling foreign yet powerful as they left my mouth. The term ‘wife’ had slipped out before I could think, but when I added ‘the mother of his children,’ it was a deliberate proclamation, thick with truth and an unspoken warning.
Her eyes widened in a mock display of surprise, but beneath that facade lay a palpable hatred, thinly veiled yet unmistakable.
“Married? Mother of his kids?” she scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain. “I never heard Alpha Ethan was married. Or are you just a baby mama looking for attention?”
I fought to swallow the rage that threatened to erupt from within me. My teeth clenched tightly together as I struggled to maintain my composure, even though every fiber of my being screamed to confront her, to expose her lies.
“At least I’m not like you,” I retorted, my voice low and edged with danger. “You’re pretending to be his mate just to get into his bed. That’s all you are.”
For a brief moment, I caught a flicker of fear in her eyes, but she quickly masked it with a sharp inhale, regaining her composure. Alpha Ethan, ever the picture of calm, interjected, “It’s okay, Reven. Let it go.”
I blinked at him, disbelief coursing through me. “Why didn’t you stop her when she was spewing all this rubbish about me?” I demanded, my voice sharp and accusatory.
He hesitated, his gaze lingering on her for a moment too long, and that alone sent my blood boiling. “I need to talk to her… privately,” he finally stated, his tone clipped, leaving no room for argument.
My chest tightened, and I felt my wolf stir violently within me, a growl rumbling deep in my throat. “Are you seriously asking me to leave the room just to talk to this trash?” I spat, my hands trembling slightly with barely contained fury.
“By the time you realize you’ve been played, don’t even think about coming to me begging for forgiveness!”
With a sharp turn, I stormed out of the room, my anger propelling me forward. My footsteps echoed in the hallway as I made my way toward the balcony, craving fresh air, yearning for any release from the suffocating tension that enveloped me inside.
As I stepped outside, I froze in my tracks. Beta Matthew leaned casually against the railing, his phone in hand, but the moment he glanced up, I knew he had noticed my distress.
“What is it, Reven?” he asked quietly, his eyes searching mine for answers.
I sighed deeply, forcing myself to maintain my composure. “I’m fine,” I replied, though my voice sounded hollow, devoid of conviction even to my own ears.
Matthew shook his head slowly, a knowing look in his eyes. “I know you well enough to tell when you’re not fine. Tell me what’s going on.”
Taking a deep breath, I struggled to steady the tempest within me. “Alpha Ethan… he’s taking that woman as his mate,” I confessed, the words tasting bitter and heavy on my tongue.
Matthew’s expression hardened, but he remained silent for a moment, allowing the weight of my admission to settle. “Oh… that?” he finally replied, his tone calm yet laced with concern. “I was aware, but I asked Ethan about you. What did he say?”
Desperation and fear swirled within me as I looked at him. “He… he said he still loves me, that he will be with me. He’s only with that woman because of the pack,” I confessed, my voice quivering slightly as I spoke.
