Chapter 308
Chapter 308
Reven POV
It’s been a day now since I saw Vera in the woods with that strange man, and ever since then, I have been paranoid about my kids‘ safety.
Every shadow looked suspicious. Every sound felt louder than it should be.
The walls of the pack house, once a place I forced myself to call home, now felt like a cage and, somehow, also the only thi
standing between my children and danger to now a thing
I sighed in frustration as I got off the bed.
I couldn’t do this anymore. I couldn’t just sit and wait.
My body moved on instinct as I headed to the bathroom.
The cold water from the shower hit my skin, but it didn’t calm my racing thoughts. If anything, it sharpened them.
Cera could strike from anywhere.
And I didn’t know where.
That terrified me.
After bathing, I dressed quickly in training clothes. It had been too long since my last training session. Too long since I had tested my reactions, my strength, and my instincts.
Before I left, I stopped in front of my children’s room.
I stepped into the hallway and called for a guard. He appeared within seconds, bowing his head respectfully.
“Stand at the entrance of this room,” I told him firmly. “Do not leave. Watch them until I return.”
“Yes, Luna,” he replied without question.
I nodded and walked away.
On my way outside, I stopped by the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water.
My hands were slightly shaking, but I forced them steady. Fear wouldn’t help me now. Strength would.
The training grounds were alive with movement when I arrived.
Warriors were already sparring, blades clashing, fists flying, and voices grunting in exertion.
I didn’t wait for permission.
I dropped my water bottle by a wooden post and started training on my own.
No trainer. No audience.
Just me.
Basic stances.
Punches.

Kicks.
Defense moves Trevor had taught me years ago when I still had no title, no protection just survival
My body remembered what my mind tried to forget. Muscle memory took over as I moved, faster, sharper, driven entirely by fear and love.
If something happens… I have to be ready.
By the time I finished, sweat covered my skin, and my lungs burned. I lowered myself onto the grass, staring at the sky as 1 sucked in deep breaths of fresh air.
For a brief moment I felt strong again.
Alive.
I grabbed my water and took long gulps, then slowly pushed myself back to my feet.
That was enough for today.
When I returned to my room, the hallway was quiet. The guard gave me a nod when he saw me.
“They’re safe,” he said.
I gave him a tired smile. “Thank you.”
I reached my door.
Turned the handle.
Pushed it open.
And froze.
She was sitting on my bed.
Vera.
Her legs were crossed calmly, like she owned the place.
A smirk sat on her lips as her eyes slowly traveled over me.
My heart slammed violently against my ribs.
“What are you doing in my room?” I demanded, my voice sharper than I felt.
She lifted a brow. “Calm down. Why are you scared?” she said. “Relax. I’m not here to hurt you.”
“You have ten seconds to leave,” I warned.
She laughed softly. “I just came to warn you.”
“You? Warning me?” I scoffed. “Get out.”
She stood slowly, taking a few steps closer. “Don’t be rude. I’m trying to be nice before things get messy.”
My hands curled into fists.
“Say what you came to say and leave.”

Her smile slowly turned cold.
“You should get your hands off anything concerning Alpha Ethan.”
My blood ran cold.
“I know what you told Alpheghan about me,” she continued. “You think you’re smart? You aren’t.”
I stepped back slightly. “Then maybe you shouldn’t be sneaking around the woods with strangers.”
Her eyes darkened for a second.
“I’m just trying to do my job,” she said. “I want to complete my mission peacefully and leave without hurting anyone.”
I shook my head. “No. I won’t allow you to do whatever you want.”
A slow smile spread across her chaotic face.
“You have guts,” she said softly. “You’ve endured enough… isn’t it time for you to go and rest on the other side?”
A chill ran through me.
Her hand disappeared into the folds of her dress.
When it came back out, there was a small pocketknife resting in her palm.
“Maybe if I kill you here,” she whispered, “I’ll have no one to compete with.
And I’ll have free access to do whatever I want.”
My heartbeat steadied instead of racing.
I surprised myself by laughing.
“Do you think I’m afraid of death?” I asked quietly. “Go ahead.”
Her brows furrowed.
“But one thing I won’t allow,” I continued, “is for Alpha Ethan to mark you. You’re not his mate.”
The air changed.
Her smile vanished.
“You know too much,” she said in a flat voice.
She lifted the knife higher. “To be safe, it’s better I end you now… so you don’t cause trouble from the gutter.”
She lunged.
I dodged.
We crashed into the table beside the bed, knocking it over. The sound echoed through the room, but the pack house was large. Too large. Too quiet.
Her arm swung again.
I grabbed her wrist.
We struggled, twisting, stumbling across the room, the knife flashing dangerously between us.
“Let go!” she hissed.
“Leave!” I shouted.
Her foot slipped.
My elbow hit the wall.
The knife moved wrong.
Too fast.
Too deep.
Everything stopped.
Her body went still.
Her eyes widened in shock.
Then she screamed.
A sound so loud, so sharp, it felt like it tore through the entire pack house.
I looked down.
The knife was in her lower abdomen.
My hands were trembling.
“Oh, goddess…” I breathed.
I hadn’t meant to stab her.
I only wanted to disarm her.
Her hands shook as she pressed against the wound, her scream breaking into gasps.
