On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 106

But that wasn't the most important thing.

The most important thing was that George was carrying another man's wife.

What was going on? The unmovable mountain had finally been moved, only to reveal he was cultivating someone else's flower...

Nathan cleared his throat. "George, can you step out for a second?"

George emerged, frowning.

Nathan met his dark, intense eyes and felt a shiver of intimidation. But for George's sake, he had to speak up. "I think you've made a mistake. Has she been lying to you? She's Lance Smith's wife. They've been married for years and have a daughter. Her family, the Browns, live in The Kensington. Her name is Jessica Brown, Kevin Brown's daughter. Like I said, there are rumors she was in a mental institution for six months. Even if it's just a rumor… what are you doing getting involved with a woman like that?"

To Nathan, a woman like her was a ticking time bomb. Whether it was her status as a married woman or her potential history of mental illness, both were explosive. Either bomb going off would be a devastating blow to George.

"Were you tricked?" Nathan pressed. "Did you not know any of this?"

He figured George had fallen for her pretty face without doing a background check.

But George's reply was calm. "I know."

Nathan's eyes widened. "You know what?"

"Why don't you come to my office for a bit?" Nathan said with a sigh. "You're making her nervous. The more you watch, the harder it'll be for her to find a vein."

Once they were in his office, Nathan thought for a moment before speaking. "Look, I won't tell anyone about this. I get it, some guys like the thrill of the forbidden. Go ahead, enjoy it for a while. But when you're done, you have to break it off with her cleanly. We'll just pretend this never happened."

Nathan felt this was the best possible outcome. But if Jessica became clingy, it could get messy. This was a serious problem.

George simply raised an eyebrow, watching Nathan's pained expression.

Just then, the nurse came in. "The patient is awake."
