On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 121

"I'm heading back to The Kensington," Jessica said.

George was silent.

"I need to go to the Brown Estate," she explained, almost instinctively. "There's something important I have to ask my father."

George grunted. "I was heading that way myself. Where are you? I'll see if it's on my way."

Jessica told him her location.

George chuckled. "Your lucky day. Stay put."

Jessica stood by the side of the road, waiting. Twenty minutes later, George's car pulled up beside her. She got in and fastened her seatbelt.

"That was fast. I thought you were at Willowbrook Gardens?"

George glanced at her, his eyes lingering on her slightly reddened cheeks. A shadow flickered in their depths. "Who told you I was at Willowbrook Gardens?"

"You called earlier and asked why I wasn't home yet."

"Right," he said. "I asked the building manager to see if my lights were on."

Jessica fell silent.

George stepped on the gas, and they were at The Kensington in no time. As before, Jessica asked to be dropped off outside the main entrance. "If anyone sees us, it'll be bad for your reputation."

Sitting in the driver's seat, George slowly lowered the window. "Are you coming back tonight?"

"Yes," she said.

"I'll wait for you here."

She gave him an icy look. "I didn't come here for you, Lance. Don't flatter yourself."

With that, she turned and walked in the direction opposite the Smith Estate. Lance stared after her, his eyes narrowing as he realized she was heading for the Brown Estate.

He pulled out his phone and dialed Catherine. "Jessica's on her way to the Brown Estate. Tell Dad not to get into a fight with her about the divorce. This is between her and me. Don't let him give her a hard time."

The voice on the other end readily agreed.

By the time Jessica walked into the Brown Estate, Catherine was playing the piano in the living room. Kevin was practically beaming, unable to contain his praise. "That's my Catherine. A self-taught prodigy. You're brilliant, truly brilliant."

The moment Jessica stepped inside, the music and chatter died. The smile on Kevin's face froze, making him look ridiculous.

Isabella Charles, however, rose immediately, a welcoming smile plastered on her face as she moved to take Jessica's hand.

Jessica ignored her completely, walking straight to the piano. "That's my piano."
