On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 124

Melissa just laughed. "It was me. So what? What are you going to do about it? You and Catherine both fell, and your own husband rushed to save her first. Even your daughter went with him. You're just a pathetic loser nobody cares about. I almost feel sorry for you."

Jessica carefully bent down and placed the box on the ground. Looking up at Melissa, a slow smile spread across her face. "Feel sorry for me? You'll have plenty more to feel sorry about soon."

Before Melissa could react, Jessica lunged forward and grabbed a fistful of her long, loose hair. She dragged the screaming woman toward a nearby rockery next to a small, ornamental pond.

Forced backward, Melissa's scalp burned with pain. She flailed her arms, never letting go of the dog leash wrapped around her wrist. Jessica hauled her right to the edge of the fifty-square-foot pond and kicked her hard in the backside.

With a shriek, Melissa tumbled into the water. The little black dog barked frantically at Jessica, utterly bewildered. But with the leash still attached to Melissa's wrist, it couldn't go anywhere.

Jessica sneered and gave the dog a swift kick, sending it splashing into the pond after its owner.

Standing at the edge, Jessica picked up a long stick and used it to poke Melissa back every time she tried to climb out.

"Jessica Brown, you'll pay for this!" Melissa sputtered, looking like a drowned rat. "I'll get you back a hundred times over!"

"First, you should figure out how you're going to get out of there," Jessica replied coolly.

Melissa was speechless.

Jessica pulled out her phone and snapped a few pictures. "You look like a ghost from a horror movie."

"Aaaah! Stop it! Don't take pictures!" Melissa screamed. "Jessica Brown, I swear I'll kill you!"

"Tsk, tsk," Jessica clicked her tongue. "Looks like your dog is having an accident."

Melissa froze, instinctively looking at her dog's rear. A stream of yellowish liquid was spreading through the clear water, staining it.

Her screams grew even more shrill. "Jessica Brown, I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you!"
