On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 182

Lance’s lips parted, but before he could speak, his phone buzzed with a message. It was from Frank Ward. He’d been trying to get a meeting with Mr. George for ages, and now, unexpectedly, Frank had sent him Mr. George’s personal number.

Lance quickly excused himself, phone in hand, and stepped out onto the balcony, sliding the glass door shut behind him.

Catherine offered Jessica a small smile. “Jessica, it was Gabriel’s birthday a few days ago. Willie and the others came home for it. Willie was pretty upset you didn’t show.”

Jessica ignored her completely, walking straight to the bed. “Amy, sweetie, tell Mommy what’s wrong.”

Amy wiped her tears away, her eyes falling on Jessica’s empty hands. “Mom Catherine bought me toys. I’m sick, and you didn’t even bring me anything?”

“Mommy was in such a hurry when I heard you were sick,” Jessica explained gently.

“Hmph,” Amy sniffed. “You just don’t care about me.”

Jessica considered for a moment. “How about Mommy brings you a present tomorrow? Would you like that?”

Amy didn’t say yes or no.

Catherine, however, chimed in with a look of concern. “Where are you staying now that you and Lance are divorced? If you have nowhere to go, you can always come back. The Brown family will always be your home.”

Jessica forced a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “Oh, really? I hope you’ll roll out the red carpet for me then.”

Catherine’s expression hardened.

Just then, a doctor entered the room, and Jessica immediately started asking about her daughter’s condition.

Meanwhile, on the balcony, Lance had finally gotten through to Mr. George.

Though he’d never met the man, the George family’s immense power and their aggressive expansion in recent years compelled Lance to be extremely respectful. “Mr. George, this is Lance Smith.”

“Do you really believe your wife cheated on you?” George scoffed.

“Mr. George, that’s my family’s private business.”

“Then why are you calling me?”

Lance didn’t answer. After a moment, George’s voice turned hard. “Whether I believe it or not, what difference does it make?”

“If you don’t believe it, why did you announce your divorce?” George pressed.

Lance’s lips tightened.

“You claim your wife had an affair, but do you have any proof?” George sneered. “The whole of Kensington knows you and Catherine Brown are practically living together. It’s not that hard to guess who’s really cheating.”
