On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 193

“Of course not,” Bryan chuckled. “Everyone knows Arthur adores you most of all.”

George frowned, then said impatiently after a long pause, “I’m on my way now.”

Bryan’s face lit up. “Wonderful, wonderful! Drive safely.”

At the George Estate, Arthur George squinted at his second son, Wayne. “Why are you back by yourself?”

“The grandkids have school, so Sophia is looking after them,” Wayne explained. “I came back for a meeting and thought I’d stop by to see you.”

“There’s nothing to see here,” Arthur grunted.

“Is Anthony not home?” Wayne asked.

Arthur sat up straighter. “Why are you looking for Anthony?”

Wayne smiled faintly. “Dad, I was having dinner with Stephen Phillips last night, and he mentioned his daughter just graduated from college and doesn’t have a boyfriend. I saw a picture; she’s a beautiful girl.”

Arthur sighed. “Do you really think Anthony will listen to you?”

“That’s why I didn’t approach him directly,” Wayne said with an appeasing smile. “I wanted to tell you first, hoping you’d talk to him. He’s twenty-five now; it’s time he started thinking about marriage.”

Arthur didn’t respond.

“I know Anthony resents me and won’t listen to a word I say,” Wayne continued. “That’s why I’ve deliberately stayed away, so he doesn’t have to see me. But I’m still his father, and I can’t just ignore his future. I can only ask for your help in this matter.”

“You remember you’re his father now?” Arthur shot back, his eyes sharp. “Where were you all those years ago?”

Once Anthony was gone, Arthur let out a long sigh.

Wayne looked helpless. “You see? He didn’t even give me a second glance, acted like I wasn’t even here.”

Arthur, already vexed, couldn’t hold back his temper at Wayne’s complaint. “And you’re complaining? Isn’t this your own doing?”

Wayne fell silent.

“Go get some rest,” Arthur said, waving a hand dismissively.

“What about Stephen’s daughter…?” Wayne persisted.

“I’ll handle it,” Arthur waved him off again. “You were right about one thing, though. It’s time Anthony got married. I’ll give it some thought.”
