On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 272

“The George family’s legacy will not be tarnished by Anthony,” Arthur declared, his voice hard. “So let me be perfectly clear, Jessica Brown. From this day forward, you and Anthony will go your separate ways. You cannot be lovers, and you cannot even be friends.”

Jessica took a shaky breath, a painful ache spreading through her chest.

Arthur saw the tears welling in her eyes, and his tone softened slightly. “Anthony may be my favorite grandson, but that also makes him a target within the family. His life looks glamorous, but it is a constant struggle. Countless people are waiting for him to make one mistake, one slip-up that will disqualify him from taking over. His journey has been far more difficult than you can imagine. He cannot fail now. If he does not reach the very top, he could lose more than just his position—he could lose his life.”

In that moment, he wasn’t the patriarch of a powerful family; he was just a grandfather, pleading for his grandson.

“You must know,” he said gently, “that even if you divorce Lance Smith, a future between you and Anthony is impossible. Cutting ties now is the best thing for both of you. I hope you will think about this carefully.”

Jessica remained silent.

“I knew your mother,” Arthur sighed. “She was a good woman. I believe you can be, too.”

He waited, but no answer came. With a disappointed sigh, he rose and walked to the door. Just as he was about to leave, he heard her voice, light and hollow.

They arrived at the restaurant to find the director, screenwriter, the two lead actors, and a few staff members from StreamSphere already there.

“There you are!” the director called out cheerfully.

As they settled in, the waiters began bringing out the food.

“I have a feeling this series is going to be a massive hit,” the director said, his face flushed with excitement. “A cultural phenomenon! You two just get ready to sit back and count the money.”
