On the Ruins of His Regret I Soar novel Chapter 304

“Everyone here knows you have a history of mental illness, Jessica. You’re not well. Nothing you say can be taken seriously. Why don’t you just leave? It’s Catherine’s big day, so for her sake, I’ll overlook this outburst.”

Jessica let out a cold laugh and held out her hand to Anthony George. He placed a file in it.

She opened it. “This is the real autopsy report for Gabriel Brown. Isabella Charles bribed the medical examiner to forge the official one.”

The way the crowd looked at Isabella changed, their gazes now filled with suspicion, as if seeing a killer in their midst.

Isabella shot to her feet. “I know you hate me! You’ve always blamed me for breaking up your parents’ marriage. From the moment I married your father, you’ve despised me, constantly trying to drive me out of the family. I’ve tolerated it all, again and again. But today is my daughter’s wedding day. As a mother, I will not stand for this!”

A provocative smile played on Jessica’s lips. “I can’t wait to see your performance.”

Anthony George leaned close to Jessica, startling her. He wasn’t doing anything but using her microphone. “Don’t you worry about that, Mrs. Brown. As it happens, I brought a couple of friends with me today: the captain of the criminal investigation division and the district attorney.”

The color drained from Isabella’s face.

Kevin Brown coughed nervously. “Mr. George, I know you have a reputation for being unconventional, but isn’t this a bit much, even for you? To do this at my daughter’s wedding? Please, have some mercy on our family.”
