**Faith Didn’t Survive Time – by Aadi Sharma**
**Chapter 81**
Amidst a storm of insults and a tide of humiliation, Renee found herself weeping softly, her quiet sobs almost lost in the cacophony around her. Yet, as if a switch had been flipped, her sorrow morphed into a chilling smile, one that sent shivers down Adam’s spine.
When she finally broke the silence, her voice emerged as a hoarse whisper, thick with unspoken pain. “Adam, you truly are heartless to the core,” she declared, her words laced with an icy detachment that felt like a slap.
Adam felt a tremor run through him at the intensity of her gaze. It was as if her eyes were piercing through his very soul, and he desperately sought to convey his feelings through his own pleading looks. He wanted her to understand, to see the turmoil within him, but it felt as if an insurmountable wall had risen between them.
“Since you’re so eager to announce our divorce for the whole world to hear, you can have your ring back,” she continued, her tone devoid of any warmth. With a swift, deliberate motion, she raised her left hand, the diamond ring glinting ominously in the light. In one fierce movement, she yanked it off her finger and flung it with precision toward Adam’s face.
“From this moment forward, we are nothing to each other. Adam, I trust you won’t regret this decision,” she added, her voice steady yet cold, as if she were sealing their fate with her words.
The ring didn’t physically harm him, but the emotional blow felt like a dagger to his heart, a pain that radiated through him, seeping into every fiber of his being. It was as if the very essence of his soul was being shredded apart.
Instinctively, he stepped forward, reaching out for her hand, desperate for a connection, a sign that there was still some thread of their bond left. But Renee took a step back, her eyes hardening, a finality in her stance that left him reeling.
Just then, a booming voice sliced through the tense atmosphere, shattering the silence like glass.
“Officer, I’ve found proof!”
The proclamation echoed through the gathering, instantly drawing everyone’s attention. Daniel, pushing his way through the throng, stood resolutely in front of Renee. Clutching a tablet, he addressed Leon with urgency, “Officer, I have video evidence that proves my boss is innocent.”
With a swift tap, he activated the screen and turned it towards the crowd, his heart racing as the video began to play.
“As soon as we learned about the kids falling ill, my boss sent me to investigate,” Daniel explained, his voice rising above the murmurs of the crowd. “He organized for all the people you see in this video to be here today. These three are renowned chefs who have catered at state banquets, while the two women are well-known pastry chefs. I’m sure many of you will recognize them. The other three are my friends.”
He paused, the tension palpable, before continuing, “At 10:40, a man wearing a baseball cap slipped into the kitchen. Watch closely.”
