Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 143

After Yvonne confessed, her tears fell like raindrops.

At first, Marico had been worried she’d been frightened—he was so concerned it almost hurt. But the moment she pouted and began to cry out loud, the tension in his chest eased a little.

“You like me, so why the tears, huh?” Marico crouched down by the side of the tub, reaching out to gently pinch Yvonne’s cheek, his voice soft, a warm smile lighting up his handsome face.

Seeing that gentle, charming smile only made Yvonne sob harder. “I don’t know, I just feel like crying.”

It was her first confession—and to a man like Marico, no less. Yvonne felt both guilty and embarrassed, uncertain if she deserved any of this.

Desperate to hide, she covered her face with her hands.

“I just… I need a minute alone. Can you go out for a bit?” She felt so awkward after blurting out her feelings. Now, she had no idea how to face him.

Their plan had always been to get married just to appease their families; her confession had clearly broken the unspoken rules of their arrangement. It was especially mortifying considering what she’d first told him about their ‘marriage.’

Impulsiveness truly is a curse—Yvonne was experiencing that firsthand.

“It’s okay. Let me help you wash up, I promise I’ll be quick.” Marico’s tone was gentle and clear, free of any teasing or innuendo.

It was obvious he was just genuinely concerned about her.

Yvonne sniffled, her tiny refusal laced with embarrassed protest. “No, I can do it myself. I’m fine—just go, please.”

“Alright, I’ll wait outside. If you need anything, just call me.” Marico’s dark eyes lingered on her awkward, bashful little expression. His earlier smile faded into a look of gentle helplessness.

“Okay,” Yvonne mumbled, still refusing to lower her hands from her face.

Yvonne glanced at the phone screen. It was a report from William: John and his brother were finished, both stuck in hospital beds and facing police investigation.

Reading the details, Yvonne swallowed hard. In such a short time, Marico had tied up every loose end—his methods ruthless, his mind meticulous.

She stared hard at one of the photos, then quickly looked away, her pale face tinged with cold anger.

“They got what they deserved,” she said flatly.

No matter how miserable their fate, Yvonne couldn’t bring herself to feel the slightest pity.

“Listen to what Tracy said.” Marico pressed play on an interrogation recording.
