Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 154

Yvonne changed her profile picture and put her phone away.

Bored out of her mind, she turned to Marico and asked, “Wasn’t your grandmother looking a lot better last time? I thought she was almost ready to come home?”

“It’s her old problems,” Marico replied, his tone matter-of-fact. “Most days she seems fine, full of energy. But as soon as the weather turns cold or rainy, she gets these headaches and her legs start aching again. And after that fainting spell, she’s still not fully recovered.

I just want her to stay at the hospital a little longer. With the doctors and all the equipment there, she’ll be more comfortable and they can keep a close eye on her. It’s better than her suffering through it at home.”

Listening to Marico talk so openly, Yvonne could hear the concern in his voice—he really did care about his grandmother.

She was all he had left, after all.

“Have Dr. Moore and his team made any progress?” Yvonne asked.

Marico nodded, and the tension in his brow eased a little. “They have. After the last round of therapy and massage, she wasn’t in nearly as much pain. Boris said her condition can’t be completely cured, but the pain can be managed much better now.”

“That’s good to hear. Medicine is a lifesaver at times like this. Once she’s well enough, she can finally come home with us. That huge house feels so empty with just the two of us living there. Didn’t you ever find it creepy being there alone before?”

Yvonne’s curiosity got the better of her.

His mansion, with its sprawling gardens, gym, and pool, was almost absurdly luxurious.

And aside from the guard at the gate, there were no staff or housekeepers—just the two of them. The place was so quiet, their voices echoed.

“That’s actually my marital home. I used to stay in an apartment near the office. When things got busy, I’d just crash at work,” Marico answered gently.

“Oh…” Yvonne looked at him in surprise. So it was their wedding home.

The thought made her heart flutter a little. She couldn’t help but tease, “You’re really dedicated—working late and sleeping on the office couch.”

No wonder he was worth billions.

Marico glanced over, a faint smile curling at his lips. “It wasn’t a couch on the floor. I’ve got a suite on my floor at the office. Next time you’re tired, you should try it out.”

“Why are you blushing again? What are you thinking about in broad daylight?” Marico teased, shifting closer and boxing her into the corner of the couch, his deep voice laced with amusement.

She really was too easy to fluster.

“You’re squishing me,” Yvonne muttered, dodging his question and shoving at his arm.

His muscles were rock solid—she could barely make him budge.

“Move over, you’re heavy!” She kept pushing, but he didn’t move an inch.

She knew firsthand how strong he was—he could lift her up with one arm, no effort at all.

More than once, he’d accidentally hurt her from not knowing his own strength, which always ended with her biting his shoulder in protest.

Amused by her pouty, half-hearted attempts to push him away, Marico grinned. “Grinding your teeth? Want to bite me again, hmm?”
