Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 171

“Dr. Moore, you didn’t even get a sip of the tea you just made. How about I brew you a pot of green tea? It’s soothing.” Yvonne’s poised, gentle smile never faltered, her calm composure untouched by Jessica’s attempts to provoke her.

Yes, she’d married Marico, but she’d never lost herself in blind love.

Jessica, on the other hand, was far too eager—and far too clumsy. She came in with two faces, barely bothering to hide her contempt. It was almost laughable.

“Mrs. Hamilton, I’m only trying to be helpful here. You know, coming from an ordinary family, aside from your looks, you don’t really have much going for you. Give it time—even the most devoted man gets tired of the same face.”

“Thank you for the compliment,” Yvonne replied, her hand idly stroking Coco’s soft fur. She looked up, amusement glimmering in her eyes as she met Jessica’s intense gaze. “But tell me, why do you think, out of all the society girls in the city, Marico chose to marry me?”

Jessica couldn’t resist. “Why?”

Yvonne’s smile grew brighter, a playful glint lighting up her clear eyes. “Take a guess.”

Her teasing tone made Jessica’s previously earnest expression darken with annoyance. She realized Yvonne was playing with her.

Yvonne placed the now-content Coco into the large kennel by the staircase and closed the door.

“Dr. Moore, dinner will be served soon,” Yvonne said, rising and turning to Jessica. “If you have more to discuss, we can talk things over at the table.”

She spoke loudly enough for Marico, who was just coming in from the hallway after washing his hands and checking on Coco, to overhear. “What are you discussing?”

Yvonne drew out her words, teasing, “We were talking abou—” But before she could finish, Jessica quickly stood up and cut her off.

“Almost ready. If you’re hungry, have a little something first to tide you over.” Marico took Yvonne’s hand and led her toward the sink. “Wash up—you were just petting the dog.”

“Alright,” Yvonne replied obediently, squeezing out a generous dollop of soap and carefully washing her hands.

Jessica was left standing awkwardly in the middle of the room, looking very much out of place.

“Once dinner’s over, I’ll have her leave. I don’t like strangers in the house,” Marico said softly to Yvonne, standing close by. The ever-imposing CEO now played the devoted husband to perfection.

Yvonne glanced up at his cool, handsome features and smiled, lips curving. “You’re just too charming. Every woman falls for you.”
