Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 66

Whenever someone brought up the puppy, his expression would darken—he looked downright intimidating.

Marico reached out and cupped her face, his voice dropping low and stern above her head. “Don’t let this happen again.”

Yvonne felt her heart skip a beat. She stared up at him, caught off guard.

But just as quickly, her worried look softened into something lighter, almost playful, as she tried to win him over. “Okay, okay, I got it. You’re the best.”

Marico’s mood eased a little, and for the first time all evening, his face relaxed. “From now on, if you pet the dog, you need to take a shower and disinfect yourself before coming inside. No dogs in the house, and absolutely not in the bed—otherwise, I’ll throw it out.”

“Alright, I promise,” Yvonne nodded obediently.

Strict as he was, at least he’d agreed to let Coco stay.

Thinking the ordeal was finally over, Yvonne was about to suggest they go downstairs for dinner when the puppy, who had been quiet for a while, started whining again.

“Um, the puppy’s just scared. It’s only a month old and not used to new places. Let me go calm her down,” Yvonne explained quickly when she saw Marico’s frown returning.

“I’ll go right now,” she added, not daring to waste a second.

She dashed off, practically breaking her personal speed record, and hurried downstairs. She opened the door and crouched in front of the crate, giving Coco, who was wagging her tail at her, a look that was equal parts exasperation and affection.

“My little troublemaker, please, could you be quiet? If you keep this up, he’ll get mad and throw both of us out.”

Of course, the puppy didn’t understand a word, pawing at the crate, desperate to snuggle.

So soft, so sweet, and freshly washed—Yvonne felt her heart melt. She let Coco out, scooped her up, and hugged her close.

It was pure therapy; nothing in the world was as healing as this.

She crouched by the crate, watching Coco paw at the bars and whimper for attention. Yvonne’s heart turned to mush.

“My little darling, please don’t wake the big boss upstairs. Come here, I’ll hold you while we sleep.”

She opened the crate and pulled the tiny, skinny puppy into her arms.

So, girl and pup curled up together in the dog bed for the night, keeping each other company until dawn.

As the first light crept through the windows, the door opened from inside.

Marico, dressed for his morning run, stopped dead in his tracks at the sight of the girl and the puppy nestled together. His eyes darkened.

“Yvonne, did you really spend the whole night here for a dog?”
