Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 83

Yvonne might be a little reserved, but she was never the type to bow down to the rich and powerful.

She didn’t eat at their table or spend their money—so what right did they have to talk down to her with such snide remarks?

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Xenia’s expression darkened, annoyance flaring in her eyes.

“You’re only good enough for entry-level stuff like this,” Xenia sneered, shooting Yvonne a withering glare.

Yvonne didn’t take the bait. If Xenia was this bothered, she’d clearly hit a sore spot.

“But my husband will love it,” Yvonne replied gently, then turned to the sales associate. “Could you wrap this up for me, please?”

Her calm, pleasant tone surprised everyone. A watch worth nearly thirty thousand dollars—she could actually afford it.

“Of course, ma’am. This way, please.” The sales associate gestured for Yvonne to follow her to the register.

“Thank you.” Yvonne walked over to pay.

“Wrap this one up for me, too,” Xenia demanded, casting Yvonne a challenging look. “You’ll have to wait until I’m done. That should give you plenty of time to scrape your money together.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than Xenia’s phone rang. She answered briskly, “Are you almost here? Okay, I’ll wait.”

After hanging up, she headed off to pay for her own purchase.

Trying to keep the situation from escalating, the store manager personally escorted Xenia to the VIP lounge.

Yvonne turned her attention back to her own business. She paid for the watch, and the associate packaged it up with a few complimentary gifts.

She’d bought the present with Marico’s money, but she was determined to add something of her own, too.

Slipping the Rolex into her bag, Yvonne started planning to pick out a couple of shirts for him as well.

Just as she left the boutique, a refined man in a long coat, exuding quiet confidence, walked past her.

“Mr. Collins? Ms. White is waiting for you inside,” the manager’s voice floated over. Yvonne couldn’t help glancing back before heading off toward a men’s clothing store.

She carefully picked out two pink dress shirts for Marico.

She thought the color would suit his understated, complicated charm—even if he usually wore nothing but black and white.

With her gifts bought, Yvonne finally felt at ease.

When she drove home, she realized Marico still hadn’t returned.

She sent him a message: Are you still at work?

He replied almost instantly: A couple of friends are back from overseas. We’re having dinner tonight—do you want to join us?

He included a photo: a private dining room in a stylish restaurant, with two strikingly handsome men seated across from him.

Yvonne figured these must be his close friends, probably here to celebrate his birthday.

She didn’t know them, but their presence radiated wealth and privilege—they were clearly from prominent families, just like Marico.

She replied: I’ll skip it. You all enjoy dinner.
