Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 85

William didn’t bother them any further. After a few brief reminders, he got in his car and drove away.

Yvonne stood beside Marico, cradling a glass of water. As she studied his striking, almost ethereal face, she took a seat next to him and offered him the glass. “Here, have some water. Do you want me to make you a hangover remedy?”

“No,” Marico replied, his hand reaching out to gently envelop Yvonne’s smaller, softer hand. His voice was low and deep, with a shadow of something unreadable. “Yvonne.”

“Yeah?” Her hand was completely wrapped in his, and his warmth was noticeably higher than hers. Within moments, her palm started to sweat.

“Are you really worried about me? Hm?” Marico’s gaze darkened as he looked at Yvonne.

He stared at her so intently that even a fleeting glance made her heart skip a beat.

Yvonne’s eyelashes fluttered twice before she nodded. “Yeah, I mean… drinking isn’t great for your health.”

“So perfunctory,” Marico said, releasing her hand and closing his eyes again.

He lay quietly on the couch, leaving Yvonne a little at a loss.

“How is that perfunctory?”

“My grandmother always said, ‘The eyes never lie. Real concern is gentle, not just words.’” Marico’s voice was rich and mellow, yet there was a subtle tension in the air.

Yvonne wasn’t sure what had gotten into him, and she didn’t dare to push further.

After a long pause, Marico spoke again, “All I see in your eyes is work.”

Yvonne blinked, her clear eyes full of confusion.

He must really be drunk, she thought. Getting sentimental over nothing.

“Um, are these all gifts from your friends?” Yvonne seized the chance to change the subject.

The gifts were obviously expensive, elegantly wrapped—whiskey, a set of golf clubs, and more. Right on top was a shopping bag from Rolex, which looked suspiciously familiar.

Maybe it was the alcohol, but Marico felt a restless heat simmering beneath his skin, on top of his already foul mood.

“Did you shower?”

“Yes,” Yvonne replied, just turning to look at him—

When suddenly, he leaned over, and his lips pressed softly against hers.

The taste of whiskey mingled with his own crisp scent, wrapping Yvonne in a cocoon of heat.

Marico deepened the kiss, his hands roaming as if guided by instinct, slipping beneath her clothes and pulling them away with practiced ease.

Everything happened so fast—in the haze of passion, Yvonne barely caught her breath before she pushed him back, breathless. “I—I’m on my period.”

With that single sentence, the fire in Marico’s eyes was completely extinguished.
