Oops I Banged the CEO novel Chapter 98

Yvonne didn’t say a word. She gripped the door handle with both hands, throwing all her weight against the door from the inside, desperately trying to keep Marico out.

But there was no lock on this closet door, and the difference in strength between them was impossible to bridge.

With a simple twist, Marico turned the handle, and the door gave way, opening just a crack. He didn’t push his way in—just left it ajar, his dark, commanding gaze slicing through the narrow opening.

Yvonne looked up at him, her eyes usually bright and clear as a mountain stream, now rippling with panic. “What are you doing? If you need something, just text me.”

She was terrified, her eyes wide above the mask, every line of her body radiating resistance.

“Go get changed,” Marico said, his voice low and brooking no argument. “We’re leaving.”

“O-okay… I drove here, so you go ahead. I’ll be right behind you…” Yvonne stammered, her voice trembling despite her best efforts to sound steady.

But Marico didn’t move. He stood tall, his shoulders nearly level with the doorframe, an unshakable presence that seemed to fill the whole doorway. His face was unreadable, eyes cool and impenetrable, not openly angry but carrying a quiet, suffocating pressure that pressed down on Yvonne like a storm cloud.

“I’ll leave right now!” she blurted, quickly changing her tune.

Out in the hallway, Hogan watched in confusion as Marico lingered by the door to what was clearly a janitor’s closet.

“What’s going on with Marico? Did the cleaning staff tick him off or something?” Hogan had never seen his friend act like this before and started toward them, thinking he might have to smooth things over.

Kent grabbed his arm mid-stride, cheeks still full from snacking, his words garbled but urgent. “Please—don’t.”

“Why not?” Hogan looked over, puzzled.

“You don’t want to get involved,” Kent insisted, shaking his head wildly and shooting Hogan a warning look.

Hogan frowned, still trying to piece it together. “If I’m not mistaken, the cleaner in there is that young woman from the party earlier. Marico wouldn’t hassle a staff member, would he?”

Marico: “…”

Cornelia, hearing the noise, craned her neck to peek inside, but all she could glimpse was Marico’s silhouette. With Hogan and Kent—both well over six feet—blocking the way, her view was completely cut off.

“He’s just in the restroom. He’ll be out in a minute,” Hogan replied smoothly, turning to face her with his usual easy smile.

Cornelia’s cheeks flushed at the sight of Hogan’s handsome, gentle face. “Oh, okay~”

Inside the closet, Yvonne stayed braced against the door, watching the shadow in the narrow gap at the bottom, her nerves fraying by the second. “Please, just go, I’m begging you,” she whispered frantically.

The adrenaline left her shaky and drenched in cold sweat.

Marico took a measured breath, then finally turned away, heading down the hall towards the restroom.
