Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 606

This version of Flora was completely unfamiliar to Nathan.

The Flora he knew had always been poised and graceful—otherwise, he wouldn’t have been so infatuated with her in the first place.

But now, all that elegance seemed to have vanished. She looked like a madwoman, and it left a sour taste in Nathan’s mouth.

He studied her in silence for a moment before speaking. "You know my family situation. Marrying you won’t be easy. But the child can still be born. Eventually… my parents might come around." Even as he said it, he wasn’t entirely convinced.

After all, Kendra wasn’t his real mother.

And Uncle Earl wasn’t his real father. There was no guarantee they’d warm up to Flora just because of a grandchild.

But what choice did he have? He couldn’t just give up his position as the Harper family heir. Without that status, he’d have nothing left—no room for regrets. As for Flora, it wasn’t like he was abandoning her. They could keep living together, just like before.

He’d take care of their son, no question.

Eventually, he’d find a way to bring the boy into the Harper family fold. It wasn’t as if he was disowning him.

But Flora wasn’t listening. All she heard was that the Harper family would never accept her as their daughter-in-law, and the pain of it crushed her. She had poured so much effort into getting close to Nathan, believing… truly believing she’d ascend into high society, just like Ariana.

Ariana’s background was no better than hers.

If Ariana could marry into the prestigious Stone family, why couldn’t she? And now… now she was being told the Harper family would never welcome her?

Nathan was already in a foul mood, and Flora’s reaction only made it worse.

His brows furrowed in irritation. "This is your own fault. Causing a scene at the banquet, picking fights with other ladies—did you think my mother wouldn’t notice?" Just thinking about it made his blood boil. She had practically humiliated the Harper family in public.

Upon hearing this, Flora froze for a moment.

Then, her eyes instantly welled up with tears. Her voice turned hoarse and choked with sobs as she said, "It was all Irene's idea! She wanted to do this—how could I refuse to help her?" After all, Irene was her future sister-in-law, the biological daughter of her soon-to-be parents-in-law. Compared to Nathan, who was merely adopted, Irene's status was undeniably higher.

So, Flora had thought she was doing Nathan a favor by trying to win him some goodwill.

How could she have known things would spiral out of control like this? If she had, she would never have dared to provoke Ariana, even if it killed her. She wasn’t stupid—Ariana was now the wife of the Stone family. Without Irene, the Harper family’s privileged daughter, backing her up, Flora wouldn’t have dared to act against Ariana, no matter how much she despised her.

The more she thought about it, the more wronged she felt.

Tears streaming down her face, she whimpered, "I’ll go explain to your mother… I was just helping Irene vent her anger. Besides, Irene agreed to it—" Otherwise, how could she have dared to provoke a guest at such an event?

Nathan’s expression darkened instantly. "Are you out of your mind?" he snapped. "Irene is my parents’ biological daughter. If you go blabbing to them that she put you up to this, do you have a death wish?"

Though his aunt—his adoptive mother—had always been equally strict with both him and Irene growing up, Nathan wasn’t naive enough to believe she didn’t favor her own flesh and blood.

He wasn’t stupid.

Just because his adoptive parents treated him and Irene the same on the surface didn’t mean he actually believed their standing was equal. If he had, his position in his adoptive mother’s heart would have plummeted long ago.

There was no way he was letting Flora go spill this to his mother.

What if she thought he was the one behind it?

She might even start thinking: If he can’t even tolerate her biological daughter now, then once he inherits the Harper Group, won’t he be even less willing to accept her?

Hearing Nathan's words, Flora burst into even more bitter sobs.

"Am I just supposed to live with this accusation forever?" she wailed between tears. "What about our child..." Regret gnawed at her now for having helped Irene mock Ariana back then. Not only had she gained nothing from it, but she'd also lost what could have been a perfect marriage.

Stefan had secretly checked in on him a few times.

Seeing that he was doing well, his heart finally settled.

These days, Stefan was either at the company or the hospital. Though he had grown quieter, he also seemed more composed—a rare silver lining in all of this.

At the moment, Ariana was busy cooking in the kitchen.

Shawn lingered in the living room, peeking toward the kitchen with eager curiosity. He was dying to know if Ariana’s cooking tasted as good as it smelled.

Noticing his anticipation, Lucian shot him a sympathetic look.

Then, the little boy tugged at Shawn’s sleeve, motioning for him to lean in.

Confused, Shawn bent down.

Lucian whispered conspiratorially, "Later, my dad’s bringing home food from a restaurant. Stick with that. Whatever you do, don’t eat too much of Mom’s cooking. Got it?"

Shawn frowned. "Why?"

Lucian sighed, sounding far older than his years. "Because last time, I saw Dad finish Mom’s food… and then he ended up in the hospital."

Shawn: "…"

Before Lucian could finish lamenting, Carson suddenly let out a dramatic wail.

The two turned to see Carson sprawled on the floor, clutching his head and howling. Meanwhile, Kevin sat quietly nearby, munching on the snacks he had just snatched from his little brother—utterly unbothered.
