Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 607

At that very moment, Lambert and Stefan happened to walk through the door.

Stefan had been discussing business matters with Lambert earlier. Upon learning that Lambert was heading home soon, he decided to tag along to check on his son. Though he knew full well the boy would never be mistreated in the Stone Family household, he still longed to see him.

As fate would have it, the moment they stepped inside, they witnessed the usually composed Kevin snatching food right out of Carson’s hands.

Stefan found it amusing—so much so that he actually chuckled.

As for Lambert, he arched an eyebrow, a flicker of surprise and amusement crossing his face. After all, his second son was the most reserved and taciturn of the three children. Lucian, gentle and sweet-natured as he was, remained lively and quick to laugh.

But Kevin? That boy could go months without cracking a smile.

Leave him in one spot, and you’d return to find him still there, unmoved, his big eyes blinking with quiet, earnest focus—adorable in his own way.

Carson, on the other hand, was the troublemaker of the bunch.

As Hugh often put it, the boy was practically a carbon copy of Lambert in his younger years—except without his father’s cunning. Ironically, it was the quiet Kevin who outshone his mischievous twin brother in shrewdness.

This often led the family matriarch to joke that the two boys had each inherited different halves of their father’s traits—the good and the bad.

Carson spotted his father immediately. His eyes lit up, and with an eager whimper, he stretched out his arms, begging to be picked up.

Lambert shot him a sidelong glance but eventually strode over, lifting the little rascal into his arms. Meanwhile, Stefan approached Shawn. He forced a tender smile, his gaze softening with nostalgia as he studied his son.

Shawn, however, met his father’s presence with mixed emotions.

He cast a furtive glance at him, then pretended not to notice and went back to playing with the building blocks in his hands.

This made Stefan's smile turn slightly bitter.

Meanwhile, on Lambert's side, Carson was still tearfully complaining to him. As for Kevin, he sat there completely unbothered, showing no awareness that he was the one being accused. It was as if he were merely an onlooker.

Truth be told, this shameless demeanor was a trait he had clearly inherited from Lambert himself.

Amused inwardly but keeping a straight face, Lambert gave Kevin a cool glance and asked, "Are those snacks your brother's?"

Hearing his father's voice, Kevin blinked. Lambert's gaze remained steady, fixed on him.

Faced with his father's death glare, the barely two-year-old Kevin didn't burst into tears. Instead, he blinked, pouted slightly, then pulled the snacks from his arms and placed them into Lucian's hands.

Lucian: "??"

Lambert: "..."

Stefan couldn't help but laugh unkindly at the scene. Just as he was about to tease his friend about his eldest twin, Ariana emerged from the kitchen, drawn by the laughter outside. Spotting Stefan, she arched an eyebrow before smiling warmly. "You're back early today?"

As she spoke, she walked toward them.

The moment Shawn saw Ariana, his eyes lit up.

He dashed over to her with quick, eager steps, wrapping his arms around her and refusing to let go—all while pointedly ignoring his father standing behind him. Stefan's previously amused expression froze slightly.

A shadow of melancholy flickered across his brow.

Ariana, of course, noticed the sudden gloom in Stefan's eyes.

Lambert nodded slightly with a faint smile. "Sure, I'll wait."

Once Ariana had gone upstairs, Stefan glanced at his friend beside him and said guiltily, "Forget about visiting Allison. It's too much trouble, especially with the kids tagging along. You don’t get much time alone with Ariana—I shouldn’t intrude. Let’s catch up another time."

Lambert shot him an impassive look and replied firmly, "No. I want to go."

Stefan looked utterly bewildered, unable to comprehend why the usually aloof Lambert—who cared for no one but his wife—would suddenly take such an interest in Allison. Then, in a flash, realization dawned on him. His expression darkened instantly as he eyed Lambert with suspicion.

Lambert gave him a sidelong glance but didn’t bother addressing whatever wild assumptions were running through his mind. One thing was certain—he absolutely would not eat Ariana’s cooking.

Even visiting Allison was preferable.

It wasn’t that he, as a husband, didn’t support his wife. The problem was, while others supported with their taste buds, he’d be supporting with his life. Not worth it. Not worth it at all. If anything happened to him, who knew how the first and second branches might bully Ariana and their three children?

So, for the sake of their future, Ariana stepping into the kitchen was simply out of the question.

...

Upon reaching their destination, Lucian and Shawn walked side by side, while Lambert and Stefan each carried a child in their arms.

Stefan suggested grabbing a meal before visiting Allison.

Lambert agreed.

He knew all too well the bond between Ariana and Allison. If they waited until after the visit to eat, Ariana would likely lose her appetite. What he hadn’t anticipated, however, was running into someone who shouldn’t have been there the moment they stepped inside.
