Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 611

Stefan glanced at the two of them before speaking. "Jerold has escaped."

Ariana's brows instantly furrowed, while Lambert showed no trace of surprise—clearly, he had already braced himself for this possibility. Truth be told, Jerold was a cunning and unpredictable man, his mind as deep as an abyss. He was, without a doubt, a formidable adversary.

Back then, if not for Stefan's allies and the fact that Jerold, though shrewd, was still relatively inexperienced, Stefan would never have been able to bring him down.

But now—

Years behind bars had tempered Jerold, honing his ruthlessness into something far more dangerous. The fact that he had managed to deal such a heavy blow to both the Stone and Morris families and still slip away unscathed spoke volumes about his cunning.

A foe like this, if not apprehended soon, would undoubtedly bring endless trouble.

Stefan clearly shared the same concern, his expression darkening. He studied Ariana for a moment before adding, "There's more. Arnold is also involved in this. Both of you should be careful." He had nearly uncovered the evidence, but Jerold had erased every trace of it.

Now, even if they wanted to take action against Arnold, they had no proof.

Ariana fell silent.

She remained deep in thought for a long moment before finally asking, "So, what’s your next move? Have you tracked his escape route? This counts as a prison break."

Stefan gave a grim nod. "I’ve already alerted the authorities."

Though the police stood little chance of actually capturing Jerold, the manhunt would at least make his life difficult.

After all, a wanted notice was nothing to scoff at.

Ariana nodded slightly and fell silent, her brows knitted tightly together. Truth be told, ever since Allison's incident, there hadn't been a single day when her forehead wasn't creased with worry. 'Arnold...' She repeated the name silently in her mind, her eyes gradually darkening with a cold, ruthless glint.

Stefan's investigation couldn't possibly be wrong.

Even if it were, Lambert's intel was undoubtedly solid. The fact that he hadn't refuted Stefan's words meant Arnold was indeed involved.

Ariana didn’t need Stefan to spell it out—she already understood why.

Arnold probably wanted to seize this opportunity to eliminate her as well. But what good would her death do him?

That was the part she couldn’t figure out.

If Lambert had been in that car, it would have made sense for him to collude with someone to tamper with things—after all, it was about inheritance. For the sake of power, he was capable of anything. But that day, Lambert hadn’t boarded the vehicle. She had been the only one. And yet, the plan had still been executed.

So why had Arnold gone through with it? Just for revenge?

Ariana narrowed her eyes, a nagging feeling that she was missing something.

Having said his piece, Stefan prepared to leave. He glanced at Lambert, who also seemed lost in thought, and spoke up. "I’ll have to trouble you both to continue looking after Shawn for a while longer. I’ll keep searching for Jerold’s hideout—I won’t let him get away with this. As for Arnold… since he’s involved, Lambert, I hope you’ll understand if I take action against him later."

Though Stefan knew the relationship between Lambert and Arnold was strained, they were still brothers.

So he gave Lambert a heads-up, wanting to avoid an ugly confrontation later.

It wasn’t just for the sake of his own friendship with Lambert—it was also for Allison.

He wasn’t some pushover.

Years ago, the main branch of the Stone family had tried to kill his son. Now, they’d targeted his wife. If he still clung to brotherly sentiment, he’d be a laughingstock. The fact that he hadn’t retaliated yet was already a concession—one last shred of respect for the old matriarch, a repayment for her doting on Lucian all these years.

As for the rest, he couldn't be bothered to care anymore.

Having received Lambert's approval, Stefan gave a slight nod. Just as he was about to leave, Ariana suddenly seemed to remember something and said, "Aren't you going up to see Shawn one more time?"

Stefan's hand froze mid-motion for a split second before he shook his head. "Never mind. There'll be other chances." The truth was, he didn’t know how to face his own son—just as Shawn had grown equally silent around him.

The two of them had completely lost their way when it came to father and son.

Ariana's lips twitched, but she didn’t press the matter. Stefan clearly had something weighing on his mind, and forcing a conversation with Shawn now would only make things painfully awkward.

Relieved that she didn’t push further, Stefan exhaled inwardly and stood up. "I’ll take my leave, then."

Lambert responded with a curt, "Mm. I’ll walk you out."

Stefan shot Ariana a glance, then raised an eyebrow in mock surprise before shrugging. "No need. I can find my way." He’d visited the Stone Family residence countless times, and never once had Lambert ever bothered to see him off. Such a grand gesture was more than he could handle.

Lambert gave him a sidelong look. "Cut the nonsense." Without another word, he grabbed his coat, ready to accompany him out.

Pursing his lips, Stefan realized Lambert probably had more to say to him in private. So this time, he didn’t refuse.
