Lydia recognized Sean and Cecilia as the couple who had been circulating all over the internet lately. Besides, the Frost family was one of Fated Encounter's biggest clients.
She immediately dropped her phone and hurried over to greet them, a flattering smile lighting up her face. "Dr. Frost, Ms. Lambert, welcome!"
Cecilia wore a carefully styled wig. Although her complexion was slightly pale, the makeup seemed to mask it, so she looked presentable enough.
Flattered by Lydia's enthusiastic greeting, she couldn't help but let a proud yet restrained smile spread across her face.
All Sean did was give a slight nod as a flicker of impatience flashed in his eyes.
Cecilia scanned the room before her eyes soon landed on the mermaid-cut wedding gown Annie had admired earlier. Her eyes lit up with stunning admiration and absolute determination to possess it.
At that moment, she still had no idea that Annie was also there. After pointing at the wedding gown, she declared, "I'd like to try that dress."
Lydia's smile widened. "Your taste is impeccable, Ms. Lambert! It complements your elegance perfectly!
"I'll bring it to you right away."
…
In the fitting room, Annie had just slipped into the simple satin dress. The soft, comfortable fabric hugged her curves, and the clean lines beautifully outlined her figure without any excessive adornments.
Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she reminded herself that this was just an act and a fake wedding to appease Irene. No matter how beautiful the wedding gown was, it was nothing more than just a prop.
Annie took a deep breath and reached for the zipper behind her back. Her fingers brushed against the cold metal, but no matter how hard she tried, it wouldn't budge. It was firmly stuck around her waist.
All her attempts were to no avail.
After hesitating briefly, she decided to seek help. "Lydia? Are you out there?"
Hurried footsteps and flattering laughter came from outside. Annie figured that Lydia was probably too preoccupied to hear her.
She sighed, pushed the fitting room door open, and was about to call out again when she spotted Lydia fluttering around Sean and Cecilia, laughing obsequiously.
Lydia's eyes accidentally met Annie's, and the fawning smile on her face froze.
