Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 129

Sean's first instinct was to argue.

Why should he stay away from Annie? After all, she was his wife.

Helena quickly grabbed Sean's arm and pinched him hard, shooting him a warning look.

Sean met her gaze, and whatever he had been about to say died in his throat.

Under Easton's cold stare, Sean decided not to provoke him any further. "Got it," he muttered at last, lowering his gaze.

Easton didn't spare him another glance. He walked down the steps and headed straight for a black Maybach parked by the curb.

The driver had already moved ahead to open the rear door.

Easton bent down, slid into the back seat, and the door shut with a thud.

Helena and Sean were guided into another car.

For the moment, it looked as though the matter had been swept aside.

Inside the Maybach, Easton tugged at his tie, fatigue clouding his features. Dealing with fools drained him far more than closing a deal worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Just then, his phone buzzed, the vibration abrupt in the quiet cabin.

Easton picked up the call and said coldly, "Speak."

His assistant, Jacob Reed, sounded tense on the other end of the line. "Mr. Frost, there's a problem. The shipment we've been holding at customs just got seized."

Easton's eyes darkened. "Reason."

"It was... Parker Group. They pulled some strings," Jacob replied, his tone carrying a faint edge of fear.

Easton's grip on the phone tightened, his knuckles turning slightly white. For a moment, he drifted into thought.

It was Parker Group again.

The last time a key project had been snatched halfway through, everyone else chalked it up to bad luck and competition. Only Easton knew that it hadn't been an accident; Parker Group had made the move.

That had been right when Sean was clinging to Annie the most.
