Annie's colleague continued, "I can vouch for it! They were maliciously shorted, and their funding collapsed overnight. Even Frost Group lost a fortune backing them."
"Oh my goodness. It happened way too suddenly."
Annie merely took her bottle and walked past them calmly.
She felt completely indifferent to Mosaic Studio going bankrupt, figuring that they had only gotten what they had deserved.
Annie returned to her desk and organized the design drafts she had spent the night finishing. After that, she made her way to Linda's office.
"Linda." Annie placed the design drafts on her table.
Linda picked them up, flipping through each page with careful attention. With every turn, the admiration in her eyes grew.
Annie always had a knack for grasping the brand's essence while displaying creativity in every little detail.
"Excellent," Linda praised as she set the papers down, her satisfaction unmistakable.
She looked up at Annie and continued, "The tailoring comes next. Maeve's manager just called and said that Maeve is at Jynston General Hospital for her prenatal check-up. Once you're done here, you can head there directly. It'll save her another trip to our office."
Hearing the familiar location, Annie paused for a moment before nodding. "Sure."
She packed up her tools and notes, briefly delegating her remaining tasks before leaving the office.
The sharp scent of disinfectant in the hospital hit her just as it always did. She briskly walked down the obstetrics corridor. She wanted nothing more than to finish her work and leave this place full of unpleasant memories.
Yet, fate had a way of meddling. A familiar and loathsome figure suddenly blocked her path. Sean stood in his crisp white coat, tall and imposing as ever.
The moment he saw her, the gloom on his face lifted. It seemed that Annie had come to him after all.
Having given him the cold shoulder before, it appeared that she now realized that he was her only option. As long as she did what he asked to save Cecilia, he would let the rest slide.
"So, it seems like you've finally figured it out." Triumph tinged Sean's voice, as though simply being near her was a victory he had claimed.
He looked at Annie. "I promise you won't be left disappointed if you do as I ask and donate your bone marrow."
Annie stared at him in disbelief before laughing. Sean was clearly confident in himself. How could he be so sure Annie had come because of Cecilia? Did he really think the world revolved around his precious little prize? Annie couldn't help but find the whole situation hilarious.
Annie's smile gave way to a look of annoyance. "You're in my way. Step aside."
