Savage (Reagan and Kieran) novel Chapter 7

Kieran

Wow. Just wow. I haven’t been able to keep Samson in line for a long time, but this little slip of a woman, our mate, not only called him forward, but then she smacked my nose. Thankfully, Samson was forward and took the brunt of her slap as she intended. At least, I hope that’s what she intended.

The shock resonating through me from Samson makes me want to laugh out loud. I might, if I wasn’t still so angry with him for what he did. He deserves everything she does to him and more.

‘I was going feral,’ he says.

‘Not an excuse. You’re a fucking Alpha wolf.’

‘All the more reason that I was struggling,’ he growls.

“Did you just growl at me?” my mate’s wolf snarls.

The power emanating off of her is incredible. I felt it when Samson sank his canines into her neck but still. This level of power is unheard of.

‘Not unheard of, just rare. I told you, she’s a Guardian,’ Samson says.

‘What does that even mean?’ I ask him.

‘I think you’re about to find out,’ he says as our mate stands up and gets in his face.

“I said, Did. You. Just. Growl. At. Me?” she snarls, her anger radiating off of her in waves.

“I was growling at my human. He seems to think that I deserve whatever punishment you give me,” Samson says, and I cringe. He doesn’t even sound sorry for what he did. Granted, his mind is clearer now than it has been in ... I don’t even know how long.

“Your human would be right,” she growls. “What do you know about Guardians?”

“They’re powerful ...” he begins.

“Not you, wolf. Your human,” she growls. Yikes, she’s not even using his name.

Samson steps back and lets me answer. “Not much, I’m sorry to say. I remember hearing about them when I was a child, but honestly, I thought it was a myth.”

“You would be wrong. We are not a myth. The Guardian line consists of two wolves blessed by the Moon Goddess herself with power and strength above all. That includes you, Alpha wolf,” she growls, talking to Samson.

“My mother and my Aunt Grace both have wolves blessed by the Guardian spirit. This generation, MY generation is the first real generation where Guardians were able to choose their mates rather than being forced into a mate bond by an Alpha because of their power. So you can understand why I’d be a bit infuriated with your wolf forcing his mark on me.”

“I honestly didn’t know. And, if I’m being honest, even if I had known, it wouldn’t have mattered. I lost control of Samson a while ago.”

“So I see.” She steps back and I watch as the angry rigidity of her body relaxes and Reagan comes forward again, leaning back against the desk and picking up her drink.

I watch as the woman takes a sip of her drink while she watches me. “Your Gamma thinks very highly of you.”

“Elias is foolish to risk his life like he has been. I could have killed him at any moment. Hell, your father and brother would have killed him to get to me if you hadn’t said something,” I say, scrubbing my face.
