"Let's just start with the project." Christina blurted out and disappeared into her bedroom. Inside the confines of her room, she took a deep breath, placed the box in its original spot before joining him in the living room.

"So, where should we start from?" She asked, brushing past him to take a seat on the couch, ignoring the awkward tension between them. He was only teasing her and seeing her try to avoid him meant either of two things; she didn't like it or she didn't know how to handle it.

He wouldn't blame her though. Even though she tries to act all tough, she was still innocent in a whole lot of ways and surprisingly, he found it cute.

"Anywhere is fine by me." He answered and took a seat next to her, making sure to keep a reasonable distance so that he doesn't accidentally brush her to spook her even more than he already is.

Just as he was about to take one of the notes littered on the table, his cellphone vibrated in his pockets. He brought it to stare at the screen and a sigh escaped his lips. He turned it off but it came on again seconds later.

Christina noticed the tired look on his face but said nothing. He swiped the receive button and placed it to his ears.

"What is it, Patty?" Max's irritated voice echoed through the cellphone. "I told you not to call that I'd be very busy tonight. Do you even listen to a thing I say?"

"I don't and you know it." She replied sharply. "Besides, I called because it's quite important. Our child ran away. Didn't you see the text I sent you before now?"

"I saw it and ignored it like I usually do." Max answered nonchalantly and stood up to his feet. Christina pretended not to pay attention even though she couldn't help but practically eavesdrop on their conversation.

"When will you be coming back home? I miss you already." Her voice filtered through. "You left me with a child to raise alone and It's boring without you here."

Max sighed deeply. "I don't know yet but I'll be visiting soon."

"So about our child..."

"Patty I'm busy. I promise to call you later so let me know if and when you find her and until then, please stop calling." He pleaded and after turning off the phone, he joined Christina on the couch.

Christina couldn't help but wonder who had called. Who was Patty? And Max has a child? Well, she wouldn't be surprised. He does give off that vibes due to the kind of person that he was. With all the women he has had a sexual relationship with, he was bound to have a child at one point, if not two.

Brushing off those thoughts, they work on the project for an hour and decide to call it a night.

"Are you going back to work again?" Christina asked when Max stood up to straighten his shirt.

He turned to stare at her face with eyes that pinned her down with intent. "Yes. I have to go back. I still have a lot of things to take care of."
