When Camila brought Vivien to the hospital in time, the elder Byrons couldn’t stop thanking her. “We’re so grateful. We honestly have no idea how to repay you for what you did.”

Camila just smiled and shook her head. “Don’t mention it. I’m a doctor, this is my job, and besides, Vivien calls me her friend. Of course I’d do everything I can to look after her.”

She didn’t linger on polite words. Instead, she poured water for everyone and they all sat down for a chat. After going through Vivien’s test results together, the couple finally started to relax.

Vivien glanced at Camila, still a little shaken. “Honestly, if you hadn’t been there to give me that acupuncture, I don’t know what I would have done. The pain was so much less because of you. Camila, you really are amazing.”

Camila just gave her a reassuring smile. “I was only doing what I should. The main thing is that you and the baby are safe.”

The elder Byrons, having already heard from the butler how Vivien had fallen, now looked at their daughter-in-law with concern. “From now on, let Mr. Byron handle the decorating. He’s the dad, after all, and he has plenty of free time. You shouldn’t be doing that kind of work yourself.”

Vivien knew she’d scared them and nodded quickly. “I promise, I’ll leave it to him next time. I’m sorry for worrying you.”

They stayed for a while, chatting and keeping Vivien company. A little later, the butler brought up a change of clothes and some food. Camila made sure Vivien ate, then suggested the elder Byrons head home to rest.

“I’ll stay with Vivien tonight. If anything comes up, I’ll have the butler call you.”

Mr. Byron hesitated. “Are you sure? You’re our guest. We can’t ask you to take care of Vivien in our place. Since we’re already here, we should stay. Ms. Davis, you’ve been here all afternoon. Maybe you should go get some rest.”

But Camila just shook her head. “It’s alright. I know a thing or two about caring for patients, and I want to wait for Mr. Byron to get back. He should be here in about half an hour. Once he’s here, I’ll head home.”

They could see she wasn’t going to change her mind, so they finally agreed and headed out, feeling better knowing their son would soon be there to look after Vivien.
