“The Lee family?” Aaron’s eyes widened. “Are you saying they might have something to do with Ms. Davis’s kidnapping?”
Dennis’s expression turned cold. “Not necessarily. At least, I hope they’re not that stupid.”
The two families had been close for generations. Dennis’s grandfather used to trust the Lees completely.
Aaron got the message. “Got it. I’ll make sure my team moves carefully.” In his mind, he lit a row of candles for the Lee family. If they were involved, one of Cabinda’s top families was about to go down fast.
With the kidnapping case closing in on a main suspect, Dennis shifted gears. “What’s happening with Professor Keri?”
Aaron straightened up, all business now. “Our people have already reached his second layer of contacts. If nothing unexpected happens, we’ll see Professor Keri in person next time.”
Dennis looked pleased but didn’t forget about the other complications. “Has Jordan Smith tried anything lately?” he asked.
Aaron paused for a moment. “Our surveillance team says Jordan is also trying to get close to the Professor. Honestly, he’s got some skills. There’s a good chance he could find a way in, maybe even get to Professor Keri before Brown does.”
Dennis frowned, clearly frustrated by Jordan Smith’s persistence. Everything had been going well so far. The last thing he needed was some idiot messing things up.
“Feed him some fake intel,” Dennis said, his voice low. “Send him off in the wrong direction. I don’t want Jordan Smith anywhere near Professor Keri or his people. We can’t afford any more outsiders involved. Once we have the Professor, we bring him straight home.”
“Understood.”
