Her brain took a few seconds to catch up, but then last night’s memories came rushing back. She couldn’t help but grin, feeling pretty pleased with how things had turned out. She reached out and touched him again, her fingers tracing along his skin. She didn't even try to hide it. Larry Adams, caught off guard, woke up immediately. He blinked, then looked down at her in his arms.

She gave his shoulder a friendly pat, like she was comforting him. “Don’t worry. I’ll take responsibility for you.”

She tried to get up, planning to wash up, but the second she sat up, a wave of soreness hit her. She winced and sucked in a sharp breath. “Ow. I didn’t feel this bad last time. Why am I so sore? My whole body feels like it got put back together wrong. Did you… hit me last night?”

She shot Larry a suspicious look.
